Our players penalty record since we’ve been in the Premier League:

Murray - scored 8, missed 2
Gross - scored 5, missed 3
Welbeck - missed 1
Maupay - scored 5, missed 3
Macallister - scored 5, missed 1
Trossard - scored 1

A 70% conversation rate which is below par.

Probably contributes to that feeling of ‘we never save penalties’ because for every 10 penalties we take we fail with 3 of them, so we are used to seeing them saved/missed. Understandably, we might expect similar to happen the other way round but that’s certainly not the case. Roughly, for every 8 penalties the opposition take against us they fail with 1.

And every other PL keeper. Most of them seem to prefer intercepting long passes from the opponents rather than allowing the striker a 1on1 on goal.

He hasn't saved a penalty for us but he's faced 9 and 7 have been scored. The other two were missed by Sterling for Man City and Calvert-Lewin for Everton, both blazed over the bar.

Which sounds like a better record than our penalty takers have (or at least when Maupay was with us!) Doesn't matter how they are 'saved'. A blaze over the bar can be down to good keeping psychology....

Conversion rate for penalties is 76%, so 7 out of 9 is about average. I don't think either Sanchez or Ryan were very good at pens, but Sanchez at least has the advantage of presenting a much more imposing figure to beat, and this psychological aspect probably makes the taker more likely to miss.

Not worried about penalties. More concerned about ability to make contact with ball when he comes of his line.

I don’t think Sanchez is anywhere near being a great keeper …. Yet.
He makes many great saves but has at least one mistake a game in him. Unless the opposition don’t bother attacking.

Great at reaction saves, but poor when has time to make a decision...IMO

In reply to OP, Sanchez saved one against Cheltenham when he was a Forest Green. Tried to find a video of it but just read about it. So yeah he has.

The conversation rate on penalties is close to 90% when leading a game and somewhere around 60% when behind. The more you need to score the penalty, the more difficult it gets.

If there was no pressure involved, pretty much every elite footballer would score 9 out f 10.

Sure that has some impact as well, but each player at this level - if there's no pressure involved - are able to make a hard shot on goal from 11 meters.

..............and maybe some thick as sh*t entitled Chelsea gimps will stop reading NSC and grizzling that they've been fobbed off with (#teamslikeBrighton)'s third choice GK and realise that they've landed a pretty good one who has already saved them more points than they've lost this season, and good value for £25M (the 4th. highest fee for a GK - or something close?).
