One thing is for sure this club has not "hit the roof".

The club may not have but maybe the team/squad has. With the prospect of losing Bridge, Upson & Bridcutt in the next few weeks, I would want to know that there are resources to fill these gaps and more, otherwise we're not going to reach this level next year. I'm not saying the "storm" out happened though, I don't believe that for a second.

I think most people think Gus got his tactics wrong. (Two wingers and going for it, worked quite well in March). However I think most would forgive Gus and see the season as a whole as a success.

But his attention seeking theatrics, touting for a job, and putting down his own clubs ambitions in a post-match interview was a crass move by him.

I wonder how many premiership clubs would want his flouncing at their club. Most of them are aware of bad PR and its affects regarding sponsorship etc and Gus does not do well in that regard. He also blatantly said he had no regard for contracts, another flaw I would have thought. Any suitor will be a lower league club, lets think how well Gus will react when he loses 5 in a row, button down and fight, or blame someone and flounce.

I am not sure if I want to stay or go, I will support Brighton whatever, but I do not think Gus is as "hot a property" as he thinks.

Its possible we are near the "roof" as Gus puts it,... we are virtually at capacity (30k), we are paying decent money for seats, we are selling more pies and beer and corporate junkets than lord knows what, we have a top line sponsorship deal, we have spent the best part of a year trimming operating costs, we are building and will need to maintain the Academy in Lancing...... I am not sure how much further the budget can stretch within FFP without making things harder for the fan. From a personal perspective, I think that if the clubs expectation of average fan spend is increased much more, there may be some tailing off of renewals over the next few years, it will become financially unsustainable for the average citizen.

Thing is,there is a good chance that Vicente,Bridcutt,Bridge,Upson and more will be gone next season.That is a lot to replace before we can even improve.i think Gus realises this and With the fair play league he knows he is up against it.

Tbf if that is the case then he should have put a different starting 11 out on Monday and used different tactics. Gus's decisions stopped us winning on Monday, nobody else's.

Seems to me that Gus's post match interview has burnt bridges with many of us supporters. We had just seen our promotion chances extinguished by our fierce rivals and were hurting but also generally had enough sense to see that the seaosn had been a successful one. Then Gus chooses to make it all about him. No appreciation of the supporters and downright disrespect to a chairman that has revolutionised the club.

I am now content to consider life without him at the helm. If he stays then great, but there are plenty of decent managers that would sell a lung for what we have going on at The Amex right now.

Maybe many of our supporters are a bit hard work? He was answering questions when hurt, mainly facts, since then he's not said a word.

This, cool down everyone, take a break and let the management have a cooling off period. The defeat, by a better organised, motivated and clinical team has hurt everyone. Lets not play the blame game its so destructive. The club and organisation have done so well and we fell at the penultimate hurdle. I have faith in Tony Bloom, a Brighton man, he will do whats best for the club.

Don't see any club with a serious chance of getting in to the Prem as having "hit the roof", unfortunately financially that is what it's all about. If clubs like Hull and Palace with average crowds of 17000 and Watford with 13000 can get there then surely there is more than a little hope. Needs commitment and perseverance, teams always need to try keep their best players and move others on within the budget and don't see FFP being any real disadvantage to us over others.

Think all managers could possibly learn a little from Wenger's attitude to that one rather than just wanting as much money as they can get for what some may call an unfair advantage (possibly for their own CV). Personally be quite happy for someone with Wengers attitude to balancing the books to be in charge, we've no absolute right to win anything.

I think there's something in that. He knows it might be a very different season. Look how tight the table was this year - there's no guarantee we'll be in the top half. Lose Bridcutt & others with little money to spend and we might even be near the bottom. So his stock is as high as it might be - he wants to cut and run.

Next time managers bleat about sackings though, they should take a look at Gus. Great stadium, training ground to come, awarded a 5 year contract after an appalling run of results, frequently outspoken about his budget & flirting with other clubs & yet Bloom has stuck by him throughout. It proves more than anything that TB puts this club before his personal ego, otherwise he'd have been out before now.

Makes sense. A bit of history there from Spurs (on the board that sacked Ramos I believe) plus Barber runs the club so has to implement FFP. Can't really see what the Chief Exec can do about the rules.
