He doesn't come across as a person who would makes rash decisions i must say. That piece in the Guardian sounds very close to the truth if you ask me. Oscar has over the course of the season moaned about the budget.

Another manager who feels he has hit the ceiling i guess.. Question marks must surely lay upstairs.

If Garcia is frustrated by the clubs budget to the extent of resigning, then you have to ask why? Surely it was no surprise to him when he was offered the job. Bridcutt was always going to go and we tried to replace Barnes. Either its a negotiating ploy in which case he will lose, or his head has been turned. Alternatively the budget is going down....then Bloom needs to say exactly where he wants us to be.

Well I did not expect to wake up to this, I have to say. That Guardian article seems too well informed to be made up. Naylor's tweet is obviously alluding to the point where things may have turned sour.

Up to TB now. There have been rumours of a major shake up coming this summer, so this is clearly the tipping point. Up to now, TB has played the long game and i would be surprised if he wants Oscar to leave and the guardian article backs that up. So back him as far as they can or let him go? Clearly there is something about Oscar as I firmly believe that this season has been a success, despite all the problems with injuries, transfers etc. His style was apparent in the first 20 minutes of Derby at home, it is not the capitulation that we saw yesterday.

I would back him to the hilt (subject to the usual financial restrictions) and if changes need to be made elsewhere in the set up then so be it. If that is not good enough for Oscar then that is another matter entirely.

Oh well, another tumultuous end to an interesting season. Should give us something to talk about, at least!

Heard various things through the course of the season from reliable sources which still has me in two minds about what to think about this.

On the one hand the club need consistency and despite all the injuries and upheaval we have managed to get in the playoffs so I don't think losing the manager is ideal. However this season has been massively disappointing entertainment wise and I can only think of a couple of games I haven't left feeling underwhelmed.

The reports say Oscar is dissatisfied with the clubs dealings in the transfer market, yet I've heard that he is very uninterested in the signing of players and expects just to coach the players he has. I don't see how money can be an issue when we had two £1m bids for players in the jan window.

There clearly is a problem, however is it because the club actually want him to be more active in regards to recruitment and he isn't interested rather than the assumed he wants something and the club aren't willing to back him.

Agreed. For both mangers to appear to have the same issue (although I never liked the way Gus was so public about it) points at something deeper in the set up. I would suggest although last summer was damaging due the Gus-gate this has the potential for being worse when you consider that the vast majority of the squad is out of contract and a shake up is needed. Not sure any player is going to sign when dealing with Burke and no manager, head coach in situ. Needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.

Agreed we could be in a years time wondering why we got relegated rather than being outclassed in the play offs.... Brighton have always been shit or bust.

I notice that Paul Barber has not appeared in anybody's questions as to part of the problem??
Two top quality managers (more or less) gone in less than 3 years at the club. Whatever his dealings commercially, an inability to hold on to managers may well be starting to become a problem.
He puts on a good show for the fans but he is unwelcoming and aloof with his staff.

Its been offered, but has it been accepted? I have criticised OG for his team set up and style of play, but reflected last night on what he had to work with and the players available to him. Was our squad one to get us to the prem, we all need to step back and look at this realistically, because its not. More intrigue at the Amex again for all the wrong reasons.

This. If Oscar does go, the new manager needs to be in place before Burke's release/retain list is implemented in case there are any on the release list that he wants to keep.
