Has Oscar Offered his Resignation?

If OG wanted out, he'd simply go, not "offer to resign". If he has offered, I read it as him saying "we were poor, it's my fault, I'll go if you want". Ergo he'll be here for a good while longer.

My initial response to this thread was, if there was anything in it, why would Andy Naylor tweet this:

Now that there seems to be something in it, I find it funny that Naylor is apparently going to miss it.

Naylor is so far outside of the club in terms of real contacts and storylines that it is laughable. Not once, in all of his interviews with the management team this year did he ask anything like a probing question. He'd be the last to know...in fact, I still don't think he has made a comment. the Brighton and Hove News website has even beaten him to it.

Well this is sad, very sad...I cannot understand why people find this exciting???

I agree with you, sad indeed. But there are clearly issues between the team management and other senior management at the club. Hopefully those will get sorted, one way or another, this time.

It's still only a rumour though.

Not according to Sky...

Brighton manager Oscar Garcia has offered to resign after defeat in the Championship play-off semi-finals to Derby County, according to Sky sources.

Garcia watched his side crumble to a 4-1 loss in the second leg at Pride Park on Sunday, and a 6-2 aggregate defeat in the tie overall.

The Spaniard, who took over from Gus Poyet following his resignation last May, cut a dejected figure after his team let promotion hopes slip through their fingers with a whimper.

And he has now told the south coast club that he wishes to leave.

However, it is believed the club's hierarchy have asked him to take more time to think things over ahead of further talks over his future in the coming days.

Brighton, who lost in the play-off semi-finals under current Sunderland boss Poyet last season, crept into this season's competition with a splurge of good results at the end of the campaign.

Garcia's side won 19 of their 46 games overall, and they fought gallantly into a 1-0 lead against Derby in the first leg at the Amex Stadium on Thursday, before seeing that overturned by Steve McClaren's in-form side.

If we do have to change our manager, can we carefully explain to him (or her) the situation and restrictions we are playing under. The fact that we wish to abide by FFP, be prudent with the clubs finances and any other relevant information the new manager (or coach) needs to know.

If this is to do with lack of budget or players for next season (and the transfer window) then what has changed for Oscar, surely he knew the situation when he arrived? Nothing has changed in our approach to the way the club is run and surely he knew the situation when he arrived. Or did we lie to him to get him here?

If this is about something else then I take everything back.

FFP isn't exactly a secret and I'd guess it was an obvious interview question 'how he would cope working within FFP?' when Oscar got the job. Why appoint a manager who has unrealistic expectations of the transfer budget?

However it might be understandable that Oscar became frustrated that we did not succeed with some key transfer targets.

What Oscar might not have bargained for was losing so many key players to long term injury, plus I don't think the Bridcutt saga simmering on for several months was healthy. His head had been turned by Gus and although not fully match fit Liam frankly never looked like the great player we knew from the previous two seasons. Imagine what a fit and on-form Bridcutt could have done for us on the run-in and for example today?

Which is word for word what was on the football365 site before Sky's.

Figured I'd tweet Noelia Deniz (remember her? Spanish writer type, spends most of her time with Barca and the reserves/youth teams, friends with Oscar) to see what she had to say about it.

Her response? "I cannot make any comments on this for now. I'm sorry."

Sometimes, as Ronan Keating would say, you say it best when you say nothing at all.
