Down here we’ve had just one afternoon of proper rain since June.

Where do you live that has had ‘mostly rain in August’?

Birkenhead on the Wirral. Loads of rain interspersed by a few nice days. Those weather summaries on tv don’t reflect what we are getting in the NW. We did have a very nice June and July though,

Haweswater/Thirlmere - 60% full, 46% full this time last year.
West Cumbria Reservoirs - 96.5% full, 91% last year.

Not much change for us up here either. A damp August. In fact, it's drizzling right now.

Back in the early 1970s when I worked in George the Chemist, Boundary Road, Portslade, for beer and ciggy and gig ticket money, in October, old May who worked behind the counter, having gorged on The Daily Mail, would announce, every day for days on end. "We're going into another Ice Age"

Brace yourselves.....

He was correct of course, the planet is always at some stage in the Ice Age...just not an increasingly cold one.
