Just got a stupid deal on offer for a week in The Maldives - but looking on-line there seem to be so many conflicting views about the weather....

Just wondered whether any of the great and good on NSC had been there in September and whether they could let me know whether this time of year is cheap becuase the weather is crap?

Thanks

Went late August 5 years ago and although it was winter over there it was bloody hot in the day, had a couple of storms but it was great, not sure what difference a couple of weeks would be though

ive not been in september but did go towards the end of season one year , april i think. but my guess would be that its obviously gonna be very hot and you will get storms and rain but also lots of sun. the stroms are impressive and worth seeing in my opinion .

what was the deal out of interest? what island are you going to ?

We went there Sept 9th.although this was 15 yrs ago things may have changed with so called global warming.
1st 6 days monsoon rain every day,we decided to do our padi so didnt really worry us.next 8 days bloody glorious .risk you take i think.
to weigh it up though.week here in the rain against a week on a beautiful island in the rain.rather be there..

thanks for the help - its Meeru which is about 50 mins on a boat from Male the capital. The deal was through Kuoni - was about 14oo per person and we got it for 750 each. all inclusive so the thought was even if the weather is not perfect its better than staying here and getting miserable

I've been in September and it was fine. Had a few downpours over the two weeks but they didn't tend to last very long, 30 minutes at the most. The worst part was the boat journey to the island during a storm. Apart from that it was great.

Went to Meeru a few years ago. Only spent 2 nights there then got a free upgrade to a much better island.
If you want to do some snorkelling from the beach, you may be a bit disappointed.

No. I hate these threads. Has anyone on here been to Lancing on a rainy Wednesday in August?
