Very gentle heads-up: if you are at all concerned as a result of this thread, you can pick up a pack of lateral flow tests from your local chemist. They're completely free, and you won't even be asked your name. The test itself is fairly straightforward, completely painless, and the results will show on the test kit within 15-30 minutes. Oh, and there's then the option of reporting the test results back to the NHS. Which would be helpful, tho its entirely optional. Cheers

My apologies, your posts just read like you had "man flu" and went to work - there was no mention of testing...! - sorry for casting aspersions.

Not a problem.

Hopefully nothing too serious? Are you both double vaxxed?

Yeah, doubled jabbed a couple of months ago.
The reason I didn't pay too much attention this time round and thought it was just a cold was a had a runny nose and cold like symptoms, it felt totally different to when I caught Covid right at the start of it all.
The newer tests (nose only and 15mim wait) are way more accurate then the other ones. I've done a couple today to make sure and both came back positive whereas the older tests show negative still. Didn't realise they were so unreliable.

Runny nose was one of the 'common' symptoms of the Delta variant and it been pretty well publicised that the variants have different symptoms and effects.

We were at the Everton game and my lad has gone down with it. We used mill road park and ride so it doesn’t feel unlikely it was from the football.

All those saying ‘no’…..with maybe a third of cases asymptomatic, how do you know ? Doubt many are testing regularly

Just out of interest what was the time line of you first getting Covid
Getting jabbed
Getting Covid a second time ?

Cheers

You can still get it, but you won’t be seriously ill

Yeah know a few people that are double jabbed that have tested positive. (Curiously they all live in Worthing.) All said it was like having a bad cold.

did you say you thought you had man flu but tested just to be sure it was COVID but then it was COVID 3 days later?

I test every other day for work, I started showing symptoms but every test came back negative. I didn't think a runny nose was a symptom of Covid (apparently it is with the new strain, don't know that though) so I thought it was just a cold. Haven't tested positive until today.
I've been using the older tests up until today, whether they work or not, I don't know, but it's only been the newer tests that have shown me as positive.

I live in Worthing and we had an outbreak at work three weeks ago, 8 people went down with it, 5 were double jabbed, thankfully all have recovered although some still have a cough.

Luckily it didn’t get me, I was one of only 6 it didn’t get and out of that 6 three had already had it in the last 6 months.

How new are the 'new tests'? I got my tests kits about month ago and still need to put the swabs down my throat.

Would my test kits be the new kind? ???

Ive just ordered some more from NHS website anyway.

You had Covid in November 2019?
That's before it was a thing? Obviously you weren't tested

That was the Mrs's fault, she was banging on about our last holiday while I was typing.
November 2020 was my first Covid.

Hasn't coronavirus been about for eternity though? I know the Wuhan one is what kicked all this off, but I'm sure I had heard of coronavirus before all of this.

Coronavirus is a type of virus, Covid-19 is the scientific name for this particular virus.
