Shoreham Beach was bloomin’ lovely tonight. The sea was a milk pond and clear. Lots of couples, families, individuals just enjoying the evening sun.
If the sea was made of milk then we’d have no need for dairy cows with a significant benefit to the environment.

Whilst it would be ludicrous to pretend everything is fine with the world, it is very easy to forget that actually things are not as bad as they may seem.

Its only in very recent years that everything that happens is plastered all over the internet minutes after its happened. Yes the world can be a shitty place, but perspective is everything. There are actually few terrorist attacks, fewer violent crimes, etc than there were previously

Its just that anytime anything bad happens, it seems it is everywhere instantly, whereas before most of the same things happened, they just werent known about in as much detail, as widley reported,

"Doom Scrolling" is an expression I first heard of after Covid, basically Twitter, Facebook, News sites etc are all filled with 24 hr updates, instant unedited pics, and videos, and its easy to get caught up in it, updates every few mins and become blinded to everything else. Its depressing, harmful and helps no one

I found that by limitting my time on news, updtes, etc, and by just updating myself every few days,or once a week on things that I really can do nothing about helps put things back into perspective. I concentrate on what I like, and limit exposure to the ills of the world, whilst still having a broad look at whats going on

Violent crime is down by 90% in the last 30 years. The US has 48000 gun deaths per year, we had 35 in 2021.
I’m guessing that’s because nearly every American has a f***ing gun🙄 tbf I was talking about this with the other half if we had a gun one of us or both us would be dead with some of the looking back pointless rows we’ve had when younger🤣

Newmarket.
Genuinely, I've just had a bunk up.
The lovely Polish woman has turned over to go to sleep and I've grabbed my IPad to check NSC.
I'm definitely happier than her but she's still happy.

I think.

Maybe.

Good advice from Tim Booth:

Today, I won't think of any sad things
Will not think of torture, or the rape of nature
Just today, I won't touch those sickening papers
Will just let myself get swept away by this beautiful day

Over the last few nights I've watched:

'Invasion of the body snatchers' (50's)
'Invasion of the body snatchers' (70s)
'Body Snatchers' (90s)

And thoroughly enjoyed them.

Not going to bother with 'The Invasion' (2007) .... Because it's shit.

We have a Labour government and thing's can only get better
I'm actually feeling pretty up beat about it all at the moment. We have competent qualified people telling us some facts.

That hasn't happened for a long time.

The facts may not be what we'd like to hear, but with management and a bit of effort from everyone, including those who can most afford it. Things will get better.

Feels like bad news all over the place at the moment.

Would be nice to have more reminders that the world isn't completely shit and f***ed
Pull yourself together. 'The news' is the news. The world is the same as it ever was. Our job is to make a good impact if we can. Not wet our pants every time something bad happens.

Could be worse, we could have a Labour government again! Oh, hang on...
Could be worse; we could have the usual suspects making silly-arse comments on NSC. Oh, hang on...
