I,ve a 2 week job over there coming up shortly.

Has anyone been to Cuba in the last year. I haven't been for over 2 years and I,ve been told that they have recently changed things and no longer accept dollars and that everything has got to be done using Cuban Convertable Pesos. If this is true has anyone tried changing pounds or withdrawing funds using a non U.S issued credit card

cheers

I thought Cuba now havea Cuban Dollar, instead of the US Dollar.

I havent been since 2002, so cant help you on the credit card front I'm afraid.

I am jealous though. What a fantastic country!

was there in the summer... convertible pesos it is - you can't get them outside Cuba so have to change them up at the airport on arrival...

fantastic place... has been hit hard by hurricanes this year

I went in the summer....we used Cuban Convertable Pesos although, we could also use GBP. Have a great time mate, it was a fantastic experience, and the people are lovely. :clap2: :clap2:

If you'd like to PM me, I can probably help. I go out there to work three or four times a year and have just shaken off a filthy cold I acquired while wandering through the flood waters at 4am in Havana during Hurricane Wilma a couple of weeks ago!

Ah yes. One last thing. If you havent arranged a hotel then there is an awesome little hostel/family house in Havana near the waters edge. The couple that run it make you feel like a son and they were absolute legends. Their son also took me out to meet some women with him.
