Has anyone been to a place valled Formentera?

I've Just won a holiday for a week on the island of Formentera. I've never heard of it or seen it advirtised anywhere but after reading about it, I've got very excited about the place. Does anyone have anymore inside information about the place just incase i'm reading aload of lies.

its just off the coast of ibiza isnt it?? think its becomming more popular these days but i thought it was just a small island similar to mallorca/ibiza without the chav element

Thats what I've read, the island is tiny only a fraction of the size of neighbouring Ibiza and the only type of transport is a bike. From what I've read its rated better than anywhere else in the med with the title 'the last paradise' it must have something more than just a lack of chavs.
Rooney spent his honeymoon there so the chav thing can't be entirley true.

From memory most people seemed not to bother with clothing so your suitcase will be light !!!

Been three times between 1982 and 1994 (ish). Stunning place but only ever stayed two or three nights after getting ferry over from Ibiza. Back then it was very quiet, but that was a few years back

As has been mentioned its one of the Baleric isalnds We went there in 2007 on a day trip from Ibiza. Very quiet, there's only really one town (called San Fransisco!), apparently the place is very popular with Italians and they used to mine salt there.

That's about it really. Oh, and it used to be home to losts of pirates, but they've all gone, or to be more precise, turned into cafe owners.

Fantastic beaches, great fish restaurants on the beach. Rich and famous moor their yachts off the beaches during the day and party in Ibiza town during the night. Idyllic island paradise. If you like "busy and active", avoid Formentera like the plague. Used to have a big hippie community, not sure now though. Be warned, it is expensive

Beautiful place. went there twice in the 90's for a week each trip.

The beaches are stunning and it is/was very much a chill-out place. I think it may have got more popular with Italian clubbers but hopefully they have not ruined it. A very special place,

Formentera used to be the only island in the Balearics group that was unspoilt by mass tourism. Now popular with the well heeled German and Italian yacht owning community. Nudists flock here as nudism is allowed on many of the beaches.

I went three years ago. It's soo beautiful. Sandy beaches, crystal clear water and for an evening out why not get the boat to ibiza? It was bloody paradise when I went!
