Starter packs also a great idea to get followers in interest categories you like, love that its open source and decentralised so its not going to be bought/manipulated, and last few days, I've started going first to Bluesky and staying longer on it than Musks cesspit, I love it

Yes, loving Starter Packs. Once you find someone with similar interests who has a starter pack, you can easily fast track getting your feed solid. For example, the exodus from Twitter to Blue Sky in the last week or so has seen a lot of F1 journalists make the transition, and my shift from X to BS (hmmm, I thought the BS is on X!) has been hastened by finding a Starter Pack with verified F1 journo accounts: https://go.bsky.app/3WViWs5

A lot of things on blue sky are American sports led…lots about baseball.
difficult to get what you want to see.

You just need to find a starter pack or two with UK-based feeds and you'll get that algo sorted pretty quick.

Just joined BlueSky so need to have a nosey around. I won't bin off Twitter because you can't see replies to posts without an account. But I won't be actively logging on there anymore.

Every so often, when I want to feel truly dispirited at the state of social media and humanity, I look at replies to posts from someone like Gary Linekar. Just look at the awful replies to this perfectly reasonable, compassionate tweet from just a few minutes ago. Most of these people are real, they live and breathe amongst us (and a lot support Chelsea!). Just hideous, vindictive trolls. The problem is people. People are awful.

Closed Facebook 2015, twitter 2023 & messed about with IG now & again. Closed that down 3 months back & don’t miss any of it.
Re opened NSC after an absence, do not watch any msm/tv either.

I have inactive burner accounts logged in to FB, Instagram and X solely so I can read things when linked from places like here. Otherwise I browse Reddit occasionally for games or shows I’m interested in, and go on here.

Been off Twitter for ages other than a dead account for the very, very rare time I needed access - such as team sheets. Just signed up for Bluesky and impressed how many old retro gaming and Albion accounts I found very quickly. Looks like I can get back close to the experience I used to have with Twitter before Musk. Not sure how long it will play nice for though.

Even if you ever did decide to Bin off X one day? just leave it dormant rather than deactivate, that way your username doesnt become usable again after 30 days!
