The club updates on WhatsApp are brilliant and pretty much the same as what you’d get on Twitter.
WhatsApp sounds like a much better way to get information from selected sources anyway.

The left flouncing out wont make any difference, you don't have the numbers. Middle ground wont follow and neither will a lot of the left so some fraction of 20%.

The battle for free speech is over effectively , podcasts had way more traction at this US election. The left have captured the dying media, the only hope for some publications like the LA times which just sacked its entire editorial board.

The modern iteration of the left is in its death throws for half a dozen reasons with the above being one.
I think you underestimate how many in the middle don't really care who has won free speech, whatever that means, and who don't want to talk about anything overtly political, they just want to be able to read and write sentences without being called a communist/nazi, or sold cryptocurrency.

It shouldn't be much to ask, yet here we are...

Came off over a year ago. Haven't missed it. Did go on Threads instead but hardly ever use it.

I know what @Lady Whistledown means about all the tedious responses from big 6 followers or the complete d!cks who just bang on about whichever of our players happens to be a compatriot of theirs. I came off a lot of the Albion FBook pages for the same reason when it got invaded by hordes of Percy Tau fans who were a right pain in the backside, and it's the same with Instagram. Tbh I would have no problem with the club turning off comments on whatever they put on social media if it got rid of all the tw@ts.

What is your twitter name? I reckon it's something like Broadfield Patriot and has 3 flags (us, ukraine and israel), lots of numbers and a blue tick

Close?

I had a Twitter account from the early days... stopped using it a couple of years ago.

I don't miss it at all, but will follow the odd link to a post or story.

A bot would know it's "death throes" not "throws" though
Not necessarily.

A Russian collection of bots once mistook the russian word for pop/bang for the word for cotton - spelt the same, pronounced differently - when translating into Ukrainian.

So the bots - pretending to be human - were calling explosions "cotton".

Funny and embarrassing - and "cotton" to describe an explosion entered common Ukrainian parlance.

I signed up for blue sky last night.
Layout is pretty identical to twitter and the features are the same from what I can tell.
It seems a LOT less toxic on there

Been on X for about a year now, getting the hang of it. Its good for fast news and any fringe stuff you go looking for imo. Its also growing fast.
Growing?

I wonder what happened in 2022 to power this sort of growth?

i think you are wrong, its not about not being challenged-nothing wrong with a different opinion, thats healthy and it could be argued the whole reason for forums. Its about the endless bots, the constant stream of ads, the negativity, not because its a counter argument, but just to be contrary and generate clicks, (see @Lady Whistledown post above)

Bluesky (for example) isnt an echo chamber, more a safehaven (for now) from mindless bots, simpletons, and far right extremists. Whishing to avoid that isnt fleeing-its just being sensible
Brave browser has 3 layers of encryption, no ads.

Me too. Although I never posted on Twitter, it was handy for following certain accounts. Most of the accounts seem to be on Blue Sky so I'm done with Twitter now.

I must admit, I don't really understand when people complain about all the garbage on twitter - if you don't want to see it, then...................don't look at it.

I use twitter to post about the Albion academy. I follow 104 different accounts - all football related. Each day I open up twitter and have it open all day - but on the "Following" tab. As such, I only see tweets by accounts I follow (plus ads here and there, which I ignore). I still find it an incredible useful source of information and nothing has come close to replacing it.

Of course, I also see the "What's happening" tab and if something takes my fancy I'll click on it - but that is a conscious decision.
I have 5 tabs.

Following
Brighton #Bhafc
British Isles Weather feed
Looking after the Planet
Humanism and Science

I probably spend

10% on Green Stuff
20% on Weather content
5% on Humanism etc
40% on Albion &
25% on people i follow

All depending on whether we're playing or if there's a hurricane or snow event imminent

Dumped mine last week after the orange dreg and Enabler Elon came to power. I'd been pondering for months. Deleting was surprisingly simple compared to Facebook. Twitter has been Haemorrhaging ever since Nov 6th. It'll soon be an echo chamber of swivel eyed neo nazis, crypto spivs and Russian bots with numbers after their name. Musk might be the richest man in the world but spunking 44 Billion is surely going to catch up sometime down the line.

Bluesky is gaining traction by the moment as the avalanche of cancellation gathers pace from Musk's cesspit. Moderation is far more robust. Two notorious US far right accounts who I'd personally never heard of, had their accounts suspended within one hour recently.

Even Crystal Palace have recently set up an official BlueSky account to follow.

But the albion haven't seen fit to bother yet.

Gods country fortnightly
Had an account for years but never posted anything, purely to observe and share stuff (usually on here)

But despite never liking, re-posting or commenting I find my feed full of shit from right wing loons. Its turned into a propaganda tool

Deleted the app last night.
