If you're just talking about configuring one off their site that's fine, they won't let you go too far wrong.

If you're talking about building one from a bunch of parts then forget it unless you know your TDPs.

I've purchased a laptop and a couple of desktop PC's from PCSpecialist and in each case I was very happy with the end product and the would definitely recommend them. They are not the quickest so you may need to wait a bit longer for it the machine.

Its almost impossible to custom build your own laptop. Desktop or Tower PCs' are built to a common "Form Factor", meaning that all motherboards from any manufacturer can fit inside any desktop or tower case, and any graphics card on the market will fit the motherboard graphics slot. With laptops, the motherboard design is specific to manufacturer, Sony, HP Compaq, Asus etc, and even varies across different models within a range. There is no common laptop shell that can accommodate a bought laptop motherboard. That isn't to say that a manufacturer can't incorporate different custom design specs into a laptop for you, however, it would be specific to that manufacturer. For instance, if you went to Sony and specified that you wanted a specific graphics chip, if Sony don't do it, you won't get it. Hope this is helpful (and makes sense!).
