Chris Turner resigns as manager of Hartlepool

CHRIS Turner has today quit as manager of Hartlepool United.
And Brighton's Uruguayan boss Gus Poyet is now being tipped to take over at the helm of the Monkey Hangers.
The 51-year-old Turner, whose official title was Director of Sport, has had two spells in charge of the League One club.
Assistant boss Mick Wadsworth has taken over as caretaker and is preparing for Saturday’s trip to Yeovil.
But inside sources claim this will be a one-off match as details are being concluded for Poyet to sign a four year contract with the Pools on Monday.
Pools had started the season steadily, with two draws in the league, and a fine win over Championship side Sheffield United in the Carling Cup.
Turner managed Pools from 1999 to 2002, turning round the side’s fortunes, and they won promotion from League Two, shortly after he left to take charge of Sheffield Wednesday, who he had earlier served as a goalkeeper.
He returned to Victoria Park as Director of Sport in 2006, and in December 2008 took over as manager following the departure of Danny Wilson.
Ironically his final game in the hot seat was against Wilson’s new club Swindon at Victoria Park last Saturday. The game finished in a 2-2 draw after Pools had led 2-0.
Turner appeared to be frustrated this summer at the lack of funds to sign players and even turned down an opportunity to sign former Manchester UNited star Andre Kanchelskis on a free pay as you play contract.
Sad day for the Albion. But if were honsest, we know it was going to happen one day.
Thanks for what you done Gus.
He will always get a good reception when he comes back.
Apparently as a young boy Gus dreamed of managing Hartlepool, he was often seen on the streets of Uruguay with a pools shirt on. I for one would not like to stand in the way of his dream move. Thanks Gus.
