Can't see it mentioned anywhere......Hartlepool fielded an ineligible player against us on Easter Monday - Gary Liddle was suspended after picking up ten bookings yet still played for them.

Could be three more points in the bag for us.....

just been announced on the football league show

The Football Association have dismissed Altrincham's appeal against a decision by the Nationwide Conference which led to the club being relegated.

The Cheshire club had appealed against the decision of the Football Conference to deduct 18 points which they gained during the time an ineligible player played for them.

"Altrincham were deducted 18 points and fined £1,000 by the Conference in April for fielding an ineligible player, James Robinson.

"The sanction was based on the points won by the club in the 13 matches Robinson played. This sanction was upheld by the appeal board today."

Oxford have been hit with a five-point penalty for fielding an ineligible player.

Midfielder Eddie Hutchinson joined Oxford in 2006 but a Football Conference disciplinary panel in Birmingham ruled that he had not been re-registered correctly at the start of the season.

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
Why not? Being that it is (probably) a dead rubber game should be neither here nor there. No doubt some 'bright spark' will point out that he didn't score, so the result should stand...

Hardly a dead rubber game, with a 3 point deduction they are right back in the relegation mire.

Behave yourselves, as if the FA are going to replay the game or give us the points :lolol:

Hartlepool contacted the FA themselves and alerted them of the error, they've been charged and I'd be very surprised if anything more happens.

Why not? We had a suspended player who we could have cheated and played but didn't. If Hartlepool are deducted the points then they should be awarded to us as we may well have won if they hadn't played Liddle.

If Hartlepool have benefited illegally from this player playing, then surely Brighton have lost out illegally. Any points removed from Pool should be given back to Brighton. Its simple logic.

Whilst the football league will probably deduct points from Hartlepool I know they won't be given to us. The League have never done that.

Orient fans on 606 are hoping they get the 3 points they won deducted + another 3 points for the offence.

It'll be one maybe two at the most as it was Hartlepool that informed the league, it was clearly an oversight on their part.

You can't have two bites at the cherry.............any deduction of points for them, in the current situation, will benefit us anyway..........

let's have a re-match at Wembley !! :clap2:

Surely we just get the 3 points ? and they get a fine

I know its not the same but in all levels of local football the points would be taken away and given to the opposing side.

That is not relevant. Oversight or not, they played a player who was banned and gained three points with him in the team. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't played but the very least that should happen is that they lost the three points they won in that game. Otherwise any team can play a banned player to give them more chance of winning and accept that they may lose one or two points after the game if they admit the mistake.

Since when has simple logic ever figured in a FA Ruling?

Two points maximum and we certainly won't get them.
