Surely the most important thing he has done from a Brighton's fan view is win the Championship?

Yea and how did Portsmouth work out after that? No thanks.

It's all listed here:

Harry Redknapp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think he would be a much better manager than Gus, who has taken us as far as he can.

Your stupidity actually offends me. I shouldn't bite, as the rumour isn't even worth acknowledging, but your comments are just empty.

What are you basing your comment of 'Gus has taken us as far as he can' on? We are TWO POINTS off the Playoffs.

Redknapp won't take a job outside the top flight or an international job. That's just OBVIOUS. The Qpr job is just sitting there for him.

Redknapp has always suceeded with WONGA. Yes he turned Spurs around but just LOOK at the money he spent!
£17m on DAVID BENTLY.
£16.5M on darren Bent who he then just got BORED with and shipped out.
He bought BACK Robbie Keane for £15m after flogging him to Liverpool for £20m. Keane never impressed after.
£15m on Defoe. Barely played him.
£12 on Palacios. Got rid of him.
£14m on Pavlyuchenko. Got bored of him.
He was about to get RID of Bale but couldn't find a club for him on deadline day. Bale then went on to be their best player.
Bought Crouch £9m, got bored.
£9m on ALAN HUTTON

If you throw that many millions at it, eventually you will get the occassional good one. He needs MILLIONS to suceed.

Just look at his Pompey team that he got promoted. He spent a mini fortune on wages of PROVEN prem league players. Pompey absolutely GAMBLED on promotion

Hislop, Sherwood, Sheringham, Steve Stone, Yakubu (who cost £3m, which was mega money in the champ), Eyal Berkovic, Patrik Berger.

He has never taken an AVERAGE team and got them promoted without mass money. Rant over.

He didnt Sign Bentley, Bent, Pav, Hutton

Wilson was Brilliant till the issue with his brother, We sold him and Crouch at a profit.

Defoe was £15 m but ended up paying around 8 as they owed us Millions

Almost correct.

Cant believe Im defending him....

That was the board's fault.

And Southampton I assume? Not saying it is entirely his fault, but can't help but feel he puts pressure on boards to spend big. Levy had enough of it, and his demands, so binned him off was the impression I got?

Redknapp is not a great coach, and the money he'd want, for himself and to spend, would be stupid. As well as needing a total re-build of the team.

Bentley was a Ramos/Comolli signing.
Bent was already at Tottenham before Redknapp arrived. Martin Jol signing
Resigned Keane for £12 million
Pav was a Ramos/Comolli signing
Hutton was a Ramos/Comolli signing

Redknapp/Levy did some good business - Parker - £6m, Van Der Vaart - £8m (Madrid paying most of his wages), Sandro - £8m, Adebayor - loan (Man City paying most of his wages)

Lets brush over the fact they paid £8m each for Chimbonda and Bassong..

Levy got pissed off with a lot of things to do with him.

I dont rate him as a manager, but I think its harsh to blame him for the money side of things.

Ok, fair enough, but he was completely wrong in the way he dealt with Bent who went on to prove he was a goalscorer at Sunderland.

I don't really care (thats not meant to be as arsey as it sounds) about if he sold at a profit. The point was he needs the funds to suceed. The Keane example is the best of that. They worked a MIRACLE getting him off their books at £20m only for HR to get him back and claim they made a profit. It was just terrible.

Pompey are certainly the example to take from what I wrote though as they match orur league/hoped aspirations. He gambled on wages in the champ and the Squad they put together for the prem years by him basically bankrupted them.

Don't get me wrong. I agree. He built a VERY VERY good squad there.

But refering him to OUR situation, the spending on show just cannot translate to us. He was ABLE to throw millions and have the occassional big money flop. we cant justify that. Thats my point.

If we were in the prem and had massive funds then I wouldn't be adverse to him ever being our manager. But I woiuldnt want him NEAR us now!

There's a very strong whiff of bs about this rumour............ Lets face it, Barber and Redknapp are clearly acquaintances, but that doesn't make Redknapp any more likely to either want to come here, or TB to want him in Gus's stead.

Let's face it, the first thing Redknapp would want to do is spunk a load of cash on some Premiership has been, which is exactly what TB WON'T allow Gus to do. In fact I'd suggest that Redknapp is exactly the kind of 'throw money at the problem' manager that TB would want to avoid like the plague, if he wanted to keep his money in 'safe' hands. For that reason I'm giving this rumour a wide berth.

Bring in Redknapp and we'll being following Pompey into the abyss in a pretty short period.

..............There is a big difference, as to whether the Chairman wants HR to join the club & a Director of the Albion, having a discrete chat with him, to ascertain interest.
