Sorry but the only reason Spurs are in Champions League is because of the complete and utter cock up Benitez made at Liverpool in the last 12 months. Took a team that nearly won the league to one struggling to qualify for Europa! Had Liverpool been operating properly then Spurs and Man City wouldn't have had a sniff last year.

As for saying O'Neill hasn't got close, for a club on their budget to finish 6th in the last 3 seasons is a very good record.

Do you know how much O'neill spent in recent years?

I fail to see how the situations of Moyes and O'Neill are any different. O'Neill spent a fortune at Villa and got nowhere near the CL. Everton, whatever the achievements of their neighbours, are a big club, so are hardly different from Spurs. They've won nothing too. So where does the difference lie?

What I will say about your argument, is that every time you repeat it, you mention Redknapp's financial dealings. I don't think you are only considering footballing matters, I just think you don't like him. Which is fine, but it's not evidence that your argument has any value.

I'm not sure what O'Neill's net expenditure on fees and salaries is at Villa. Likewise Everton and Spurs. I'm not sure you do to be honest. Maybe you can tell me? Moyes and O'Neill both seem to have continually done well throughout their careers though...and I do not think the likes of Preston, Wycombe and Leicester were huge spenders when these two were at the helm. And by success I do not necessarily mean tin pots.

I'll leave it at this, as the Premiership does not really interest me. Maybe when you produce the net player expenditure for the three clubs I will think again. I like Moyes and O'Neill but think Redknapp is a prize prick who has got lucky and is always too ready to offer a misguided opinion on something.

if he cant deal with a simple question like that, f*** knows what he would be like as england manager when the press and fans have their inevitable turn after about a year

Some of the over the top reactions on this thread are quite classic. It was an overreaction to the same stupid phrase used to describe him all his career, and it was true. 10 years ago. Now he's the manager of the biggest club he's ever managed, and he's actually achieving what no other English manager has for a long old time. All this nonsense about him not being good enough to be England manager because he can't stand stupid questioning by the press is just stupid, no other word for it. It's stupid to suggest that he shouldn't get the job based on his media skills, and not on his management skills. He took Spurs to 4th last season, you can make whatever counter argument about Liverpool being shit or Man City not having the time to gel... it's irrelevant. Who finished 4th? Tottenham did.

an english manager recently won a tiny club its first ever title in the top flight of a european league - id say that is a bigger achievement than anything redknapp has done at spurs

WOah, not FOURTH! Guys, did you hear?! He came FOURTH! ONCE! Woooow what a manager.

When Fabio Capello with his countless
LA LIGA, CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, SERIE A trophies
isn't good enough, Harry "I'm a wheeler dealer whether I like it or not" Redknapp DEFINITELY isn't.

His achievements with FC Twente are fantastic, no question. How they managed to pip an Ajax team that scored SO many goals is remarkable. But his achievements don't mean that Redknapp's aren't good in their own right. And Harry has been successful for how many years? He's done a bad job at only ONE of his clubs, Southampton. The rest of the time he's been brilliant.

We'll compare Redknapp and McClaren in a few years time when it's a fair comparison.
