Seeing the thread about Henry Allingham, I was prompted to start one about the other surviving Briton from the Great War Harry Patch. Harry was 111 two days ago and was featured in a documentary revisiting Flanders after 80 years or so and also enjoying a beer with the last surviving WW1 veteran from the German side. If only all the soldiers from both sides had said in 1914 "sod this lets go for a beer".
