Paul Merson said Matt Taylor was the best left back in the World apart from Roberto Carlos. He struggles to get in the Pompey team now. Perhaps the England Under21 left back shirt is cursed because Harding looked quite good last year.


That said, he is amazing and well worth £2.5m of Everton's money.

The News of The World said Everton were chasing Beattie for £7.5m, Kieron Dyer for around the same fee and £1m rated Brighton defender Daniel Harding.

Will we actually get that much? Would be very nice.

Obviously the journalist has a very good lunch before he wrote that. Was it the same guy who heard the sieg heil chants at millwall?

I remember years ago when Kevin McGarrigle was valued at £1,000,000 but nothing ever came of it and he ended up in Non League football at Blyth Spartans. I don't know whether he still plays now.
