I am very much in the yes camp. If we had have got Pulis, I think he would have been off as soon as a prem club showed the slightest interest in him. Hughton is a very respected guy in the world of football and I hope he is here for the long run.

Yes but if he players Gardner and JFC together then no. Surely the management now understand what our problems have been.

Surely this is the thread from the summer with the difference of substituting Hughton for Hypia with the same result ?

Hughton was a Full Back

Warming to Chris Hughton:

I think there are alternative ways to stop a pacy striker, interceptions, and keeping possession in the first place. i.e. not getting dispossessed or making predictable passes that are intercepted. This is what I think we have been doing but our bad games we keep on making mistakes and get punished for it.

But most of all we need a quick-heeled striker of our own. e.g. Elliott Bennett.

The snag is if the opponents play a passing game and they have got a jet-heeled striker as well:

We've got to get a quick forward player this January. Or if we can't get Elliott Bennett, we ought to keep hold of Macca.

Here
Yes. Mind you he can't do as badly as Sami Hyypia (can he?). Unrealistic I know, I would have liked to have seen Nathan Jones in charge for a few more games to see how he would have fared. Welcome Chris, we're right behind you and most of us will spell your name correctly!

Of corse wee wil, Kris Hewton.

While I have appreciated previous "out of left field" appointments, and would have liked a more "flair" appointment, I am happy with this:
I have always liked Chris Hughton. He strikes me as a good operator and a decent bloke.
For those who want somebody who can "get out of this division", he has done that.
He has managed successfully in the Premiership.

Simply put, yes.

For a more long-winded explanation: I feel he is a better manager than he is given credit for and for a change has decent experience of this division. In our current predicament, I feel this will be vital in picking up the points needed to stay up. Okay so the football won't be as pretty as it has been at times under the recent managers we've had but the Albion will only play their best football when they've got some confidence back and before that can happen, we need to get some more wins under our belts. Is he the man to eventually win us promotion? Well detractors will point to the strength of his Newcastle side that he inherited which really shouldn't have got relegated in the first place but managers do not go unbeaten at home all season and storm the division simply through good fortune. He's certainly got something, whatever that may be.

All of the above.
