What's this stuff called Marco? " It's called China." Where did it come from? " One of the land masses I found." Whats that place called? "Well China I suppose."

Cecil Rhodes once said that "to be born English is to win first prize in the lottery of life".

I love being English.

All true, but I was thinking yesterday that my country has been stolen from me. If you spend time in London it's very difficult to realise you're in an English city. Johnny Foreigners all over the place. The tourists are OK ... they're here for a short while and then they go home ... it's the Johnny Foreigners that live here what's the problem. Travelling on the Underground yesterday I was about the only white face in a crowded carriage. I just wonder how an Indian gentleman would feel if he regularly found that the metro in Delhi was all white and he was a minority on his own public transport system?

Incidentally, Cecil Rhodes had two countries named after him.

Now we have to queue up for a lottery ticket in the hope of getting enough money to emigrate.

And perhaps we could remember that to love ones country doesn't automatically mean that you have to hate ever other country. And I am with the "Jerusalem"
as National Anthem lobby as well.

Always been a bigger fan of Land of Hope & Glory personally as an English anthem and GSTQ as UK.

Happy St George's everyone. To celebrate I shall be watching a Spanish football team against a German football team, on a TV made in Taiwan, drinking some Aussie lager, whilst eating a pizza, bought from a supermarket owned by Americans.......

Sounds good (other than the Aussie lager!). Happy St. George's day.

its a Christian hymn. Very strange choice from some on here. Won't do much for community relations, unless you are saying English born muslims or Jews for example are not English, and that term implies a culture, religion and/or ethnicity?

each worth 1 million, each with mega council tax.....local post office closed down a year ago, and local pub shutting down as prices too high and smokers prefer to drink at home.

yeah - nice.

I imagine that photo was taken on a weekday. At the weekend you will see it brimming with sports cars and Bentleys and chaps in jeans with stripy work shirts and cuff-links. And then it goes quiet again on the Monday.
