My friend, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You don't have a crystal ball and it's fair to say, Chris had a mixed reputation as a manager when he joined us. The people who should be ashamed are the ones who 4 years in, were calling for his head whilst mid table in the premier league because we weren't starting with 5 centre forwards every game.

I wonder who I wanted. I feel ashamed to look, I'm sure I posted

Let us see. Unsurprisingly, Judas Horton got it wrong.

Not sure if the "egg" Clive Walker was referring to was CH or McDermott. Cowfold Seagull thought McDermott was the man or maybe Lee Clarke. Justice wanted Sherwood. Ernest clueless as usual.

A very interesting post 102 from Maximus in that second link, spotting Hughton at the Amex in October.

Top work.
The Hughton v Sherwood poll (which Timmy understandably won at a canter) was also amusing.

4 years, how wrong I was and delighted about it :)
You are often wrong ie Long,

And no it wasn't me who was stalking you. I could start though

Indeed, he is the Best Manager we have ever had since the last Best Manager we have ever had!

Yes, indeed! I have always raved about Alan Mullery and what he achieved, but in truth he inherited a great squad of players assembled by Peter Taylor and then took them to the next level - and history!

Dear old Chrissy inherited a rag tag squad staring at relegation, ensured we survived and rebuilt the team in the summer. We’ve never looked back.

Chris wins on points!

With generous support from TB in acquiring quality players on again. TB gambled and won, yet again.

Derby, Villa and Massive tried it, but it ended in tears. They didn’t have Winstanley, Hughton or a properly thought out strategy.

I wanted Eddie Howe at the time though it was obviously unlikely he would be approached let alone accept. When Chris came I was far from underwhelmed though as I knew we would be in good hands. He got the results to keep us up (we really were poor under Sami) and from there it has been steady progression. How Hughton, how brilliant. Long may he stay here.

It's been ok, would have preferred Sherwood..

Or Paul Clemont. And wasn't Adkins snapped up by a rival while we dilly-dallied, according to some?

If I ever meet a Norwich fan they're still convinced we need to get shot of him.

It helped that David Burke had been sacked the week before Hughton started.

I agree that nearly every Norwich fan seems to be against him ... but they're a bit peculiar in that neck of the woods.

Listen, I was born in that neck of the woods and I’m MORE than a bit peculiar. Anyone who fills their car with fuel and calls it “PET -ROLL” must be so (Local dialect!). Fate took a turn and I moved away when I was two years old (my Dad was in the RAF) so then I learned how to be sensible - sort of. :drink:

Cars? Have cars arrived in Norfolk? Surely you mean Tractors...

Quite a lot of halfwits, sorry posters, wanted Hoddle or Sherwood. I was genuinely gobsmacked.
I'd have been happy with Hoddle at the time :(
