Over the years crossed swords with him at various times, on more than one occasion we‘ve had to ‘agree to differ’ but at a couple of points in my life he’s shown his true colours and I’m proud to call him a friend.

As a fan base we collectively saved this club from going to the wall, and he was at the forefront.

The emphatic 6 nil win yesterday a perfect gift for an Albion legend.

I saw him at the Chelsea match. Still gets a huge amount of gratitude for what he did and rightly so. But it's

If you ever see him in the crowd and have an excited child on tow, it's your duty to shake the man by the hand and inform that nipper of yours that this man saved our club. There'd be no European tour possibility, World Cup winning midfielder and FA Cup semi final appearances without him.
