*Apart from the UK

Both Germany and UK are good candidates as well due to a history of elitist intellectualism that caused a lot of issues for a lot of people. But most likely they've not caused the same amount of suffering and destruction as the American idea that the money of the rich is more important than the lives of the poor.

Piece of shite country. Nothing and no one has caused the world more trouble.

Apart form being inaccurate in your assertion, you are talking about US government. A country is more than its leaders. The US has produced world changers. It is made up to millions of citizens who do good for others from charity work, to scientific innovation, to fighting for peace. Yes, the US government and big corporations have many huge flaws that are bad for the world. So does China, N. Korea, Britain, Saudi etc

But to dismiss an entire country as a “piece of shite”? I think that says more about your gullibility and narrow mind than it does the qualities of the U.S.

It also tells me you do most of your “research” at home on your computer as opposed to actually travelling to different countries. Do yourself a favour, buy a ticket and go see some life. Meet people. Talk to them. Invest some time in experiencing life. Not just reading about it online.

It is still a shit country despite plenty of people inside the shit country being perfectly great people.

I've been to 30+ countries, met and talked to people and "experienced life", don't you worry about that.

the American idea that the money of the rich is more important than the lives of the poor.

So basically you hate a country with 330 million people of all ethnic and racial backgrounds, for probably in total a couple of thousand business owners and politicians.

Crack on.

True, you're right, not quite 30 - just felt like it.

Sweden
Denmark
Norway
Iceland
Germany
Poland
Spain
France
Czech Republic
Austria
Morocco
Egypt
Algeria
Iceland
Italy
Croatia
Switzerland
Netherlands
Belgium
Canada
Greece
North Korea
South Korea

Might miss one or two but I'm fairly happy with that.. but I'm not calling the US a shite country based on the people living there - I think I would have a good vacation there and get along fine with most people - but more based on the general impact of those actually deciding what the country is and isn't doing.

But you haven’t visited the USA?

Btw can someone tell me why for 364 days the Americans do the complete opposite of the rest of the world and use MM/DD yet on this particular day they join the rest of us and use DD/MM?

Ah. Unequivocal proof. A list of countries.

Well, in the unlikely event that you have travelled to those countries, perhaps stop acting like you’ve never left your fricking bedroom?

Good day to you.

The US has also slaughtered millions of "their own people", through making proper healthcare unaffordable, prescriping drugs to anyone who can pay up, allowing guns to be sold to anyone and his mother, and other ways. Nazism did cause a lot of death, but nowhere near as many victims as the US version of capitalism which is now prevalent pretty much everywhere where they have infuence - which is pretty much everywhere.
More sixth form common room drivel I'm afraid. I don't agree with their policy on health care for several reasons, but that is a pretty ropey and childish definition of "slaughtered". If there was the appetite for it, they'd vote for it. That's the thing with slaughter - you'll find there is not normally any element of choice involved. When Stalin wanted a canal built, he decided it was worth tens of thousands of innocent Soviet lives to fulfill his project. On top of that, he executed 1,000,000 Soviets and left 4,000,000 Ukranians to die in a famine rather than make a policy change. Chairman Mao killed 65,000,000 of his own people in the name of socialism. Look at that number again. We may as well ignore the 20,000 state slaughtered students in 1989 because that number pails into insignificance. I can't be arsed to talk about the millions of deaths Hitler was responsible for or any other European (i.e. non American) regimes.

Sweden could have been a German or Russian colony, instead we're an American colony. The privatisation of school and health care in Sweden are results of lobbyism from American companies, and it is causing great damage. If Germany had won WW2 everyone now saying "oh you could have been a German colony, how dreadful" would be saying the same about the US, because the winners write the history and the people accept the winners narrative.
And yet funnily enough, Sweden is desperate to join NATO, an organisation that has always been bankrolled by the United States. It's not really the fault of the US if Sweden decides to privatise industry is it? The UK government has sold off our rail industry to France and Germany - it isn't really the responsibility of those countries to have ensured that didn't happen is it? That was our government's job, and we voted them in.

You are reminding me of those bleating Nigerian politicians demanding apologies and reparations from Europe for slavery, all the while they ignore the rampant corruption and greed of their own administrations and of course the roles of their own people in the slave trade in the first place..

You sound like a right nob going on about the US being the root of all evil. Utter cringe.

Does Portslade have an Independence Day? Many years ago the train announcements always stated “Portslade and West Hove”.
I assume it’s broken away from the ‘Distinguished’ one and set up on its own. This is somewhat amusing as surely West Hove is now Aldrington Actually.

I shall now retire and contemplate my navel. :drink:

I hope your not including countries you have flown over to get to other countries, Air space is not included :lolol:

Today they call it ‘ 4th of July ‘ tomorrow they revert back to July 5th, any ideas?

Just a guess but likely / possibly from the George M. Cohan song “Yankee Doodle Dandy”:

“I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy
A Yankee Doodle, do or die
A real live nephew of my uncle Sam's
Born on the Fourth of July…”

Also in the states, for the first 9 days of the month, most people use the U.K. method. 1st of July etc, only changing to the yank method for example, July 10th.

Also when Independence Day originated, a lot more people probably spoke like the English.

But I’d say most likely the second option.
