To be honest I think we all know that it was not the normal palace we saw or expected on Sunday but that is a credit to us, I keep hearing/reading comments suggesting palace didn't turn up but the fact is that they did turn up & looked up for it but were ground down & surprised then got more disheartened & frustrated as time went on.
I honestly think most palace fans actually believed that we were a shit team that they could just turn over with ease every time we met & you could sense the shock of both the palace team & supporters once they realised we were more than capable of beating any championship side on our day & are not the "nancy boy" push overs they had convinced themselves that we were.

Again we all know palace can & usually do play far better but I think palace fans should realise they are only kidding themselves with this belief that they are somehow this mighty force that are far superior to the "tinpot plastic queers" from brighton.

Fair play to the lads that have come on here though & have had the decency to admit that the better team on the day won, you would make far better / balanced presenters than those deluded snivelling fellas on that selhurst radio show.

I am one of those presenters ;) Just not one of the ones that was on the show. I've not heard the podcast yet, hurt too much but I'll listen to it later today and present my findings.

yeah do that mate.
im sure youll find most of it pretty cringe worthy but it would be good to hear another palace fans take on it.
it wernt so much the main presenter standing in for who i assume would be you, it was the guests that didnt even go that were awful..... no grace in defeat whatsoever

surely that cant be the usual standard, constant sheep noises being played when a cardiff supporter dares question the fact that the presenter thinks palace are the best footballing side in the league & the old man with slightly racist undertones.
it was poor

I'm not sure who was on, I was meant to be but having gone down to Brighton and then got stuck there (though there was a very nice boozer on a little road off West Street that held my interest) I couldn't make the show. Usually main presenter was Hambo but he wasn't there either having been at the game and got very very inebriated (and needing a holiday).

I'll give it a listen at lunch and let you know. Bare in mind I'm going to be a little biased anyway as a Palace fan, a HOL Radio presenter and someone thats likes fairly crass humour. Also bare in mind that its not supposed to be an impartial show and definitely shouldn't ever be expected to contain any sense of professionalism.

I think your players just froze on the occasssion, must be daunting to play in front of so many people.

Your get third place at the end of the season. which is a great overall performance bearing in mind your first 3 games.

Isn't our highest attendance a good 14k over your highest attendance? I mean if we're really going to do this whole attendance pissing contest? Alternatively we could engage in talking about football? Which still has Palace 4th and Brighton 7th and a 6 point gap? :)

You have to learn to stop biting my friend. :fishing:

(but your current crop of players were not playing when you got that crowd, the current crop of players are only used to about 17k each home game, which is why they maybe frooze!!!)

Its our biggest rivals internet football forum, surely I'm meant to be biting? Oh and for the record your highest crowd wasn't with your current crop of players either ;)
I'd also imagine most of our players had played in front of bigger crowds than 28,500 at different points too certainly the likes of Ramage has (albeit not for some years).

On NSC for over two decades...
I would say so, our most dangerous player Johnny W being going off at half time didn't help, but 3-0 was a fair result. We had to lose sometime, and the last time i witnessed it was when they had Gary Nelson playing for them up front. I bet half of the Brighton fans that were there on Sunday wouldn't know who Gary Nelson was....

I don't know about this Gary Nelson bloke... but Garry Nelson has his portrait up outside the West Stand and is something of a Brighton legend!

Were your players at that game with that huge attendance? If not, what are you talking about?

Alternatively we could engage in talking about football?
Let's do that. We just stuffed you 3 nil, and we didn't even need one of yours sent off, 2 penalties or dodgy corner.

Anyway, have you listened to the podcast. We've enjoyed it more than the Palace fans will have.

"Bear" not "bare". Your spelling is atrocious!

Seriously, nice one for coming on here and fronting up on the performance. I was surprised how lacklusture Palace were and was actually quite interested to see Johnny W. I'm sure he can perform better than that given the rep he's been getting. I was more surprised how little difference the substitutes made. Especially KP who scored a sublime strike against us at the Amex for Blackpool last year. I hop you don't get that second spot because personally i'd love a play off game against you guys, but I think Hull are punching above their weight right now.

Didn't think Palace were that bad. Judging on the first forty minutes, I thought they were more likely to score. But the two goals knocked the stuffing out of them, as it would most teams. Brighton played strongly as a team throughout.

Yep, that's the way i saw it, best team won on the day but it was very even until the first goal, think we edged it in fact. What is concerning is the implosion after the first but best to do it last Sunday rather than in the playoffs. Williams being subbed was also one of the strangest substitutions i've ever seen in 25 years as a Palace fan.

I'd still back us to beat you over 2 legs if we meet in the PO semis as long as 2nd leg was at our place, no way would we play as bad as Sunday again and you'd have to come to Selhurst where we are unbeaten since the opening day and averaging over 2 goals a game. If we meet in the final i couldn't predict it, always a one off where anything can happen so who knows.

Well you would say that. You don't seem to find it so easy against 11 though.

But I thought...
Everyone knows Forest will win the playoffs.

Palace fans have quite a strange thing about this "first team to win at the Amex" thing. Nobody I know gives a toss who the "first team to win at the Amex" were: it means nothing at all??

I care that we lost to Palace, but I would have cared if that had been the first, tenth or two hundred and forty eighth game there. There was a Palace fan on whatever that grim radio station they have is (the clip was on here this week) who was saying something along the lines of "Whatever happened today, Brighton fans will be taking their kids to the Amex in forty years time and their children will be asking 'Daddy, who was the first team to win here?'".

No, no they won't! Nobody would ever, ever ask that question, any more than they'd ask who the first draw was against, or who the first referee was. The only stat anybody was really bothered by was the first proper game (Doncaster) because it was just so memorable. Palace winning a game in September is no more impactive to me than in February. It pisses me off whenever it happens, but please, Palace fans, don't try to make out that there's something that hurts so much more, simply on the basis of the Football League fixture list.

COYP Dougie 5 Zero one thing that surprised me was immediately after our 1st goal your players lost all composure. I know you don't want to, but watch the highlights, and the way you relinquished possession, which led to the free kick for the 2nd goal was very sloppy.

But I thought...

So i see that Trig is now feeling a bit cocky/and up for gloating after previously saying he wasn't like that? ???
You deserved to win but i wasn't that impressed by you if i'm honest, 4 clear chances and scored 3 of them. But man enough to say you deserved it, we were awful on the day.

p.s How the hell did you remember/find that post i made about Forest a while ago, are you my stalker?Jeez! I still think they are the team to beat in the PO, doesn't mean they will win it though.
