No f***ing chance. Bar Walsall we've been clueless away from home for over three months now, and with 5 of our 9 remaining games away we'll do well to get more than a handful of points. Not good enough this year I'm afraid.

You get a bone when Brighton lose don't you. I'm all for constructive criticism, but the joyful way you jump on any negative point is pretty hard to take.

I agree but.....................you know us we may just go on a winning run and end up scrapping in.......its happenned before and this is a very ordinary division......i mean Leeds United away should be a home banker but then again....Cheltenham Town eh eh eh:yahoo:

There have only been a few times this season when I've felt we would never make it to the playoffs.

However this is not one of those times.

C'mon lets be real with ourselves here...We are still one point away from the play-offs, with a game in hand on the two sides above us.

Last night was a great chance to move into 5th or 6th, but we didn't take that opportunity. But we have to pick ourselves up and move on.

We are in a great position at this point in the season - FACT!

How soon is now?
I'd love us to get to the Play-Offs, generate a bit of extra revenue and even get to the final - but then maybe lose(I'll totally change my mind if this were to happen), but I just don't think we're quite ready to play Championship football. How many Derby fans are thinking "f***, lets get this horror show of a season over with, get back to winning a few games and feeling good again". I'd hate for us to be the Championship whipping boys next season. We've proved this season we can play well and beat the top teams, but we're not quite consistant enough yet. Start next season well, be up there - win the league convincingly and cement ourselves in the Championship over a couple of years as opposed to hanging on by our fingernails, which is what I think will happen if we try and progress too quickly

But who is to say that remaining in league one will be a positive for next year?

Next season could just as easily be a nightmare in league one if we don't go up.

Look at teams that survive as they get promoted, normally they're the ones that win their respective leagues convincingly. Teams that win via the play-offs tend to struggle. My only evidence of this is the Premiership, but the following has been true
Wigan - Champs, hanging on in there now, but been there for a few years
Reading - ditto
Sunderland - similar

Watford - straight back down
Derby - Its looking bleak

Exactly. You've got to take every opportunity you get in football. It's always better to take the promotion and then worry about staying up, rather than choosing when you think you're ready to go up. The last time we went up we scraped through the play-offs unconvincingly and ended up staying up. That could easily happen again. If we stay in this league, it's nowhere near guranteed we'll be top 6 material next year. Do EVERYTHING we can to get up, and if that means signing FIVE loanees it's worth the risk.

For once Badger we are, I think, on the same wavelength!

More often than not goal difference is a good indicator of likely final league position - the top four are way out in front, then we've Wallsall on +12. 6th place to be taken by Leeds despite being skewed due to their 15pt deduction. That would put us in 7th or 8th. Any stattos like to test this theory based on previous seasons?
