Sussex off to a flyer. 5-0 after 8 overs. A scoring rate of 0.625 runs per over.

COME ON, HIT THE SODDING THING.

Not so long ago, that would have been regarded as a normal start to an innings.

He really needs to sort himself out, that's three failures on the bounce. This opener situation isn't looking at all clever.

As someone who holds the record at my last club for going longest without scoring (92 balls) and who once batted for 90 minutes without a single run in a school match, this is cricket after my own heart.

It's not that bad you know, see of the new ball pair. Tremlet is dangerous, they are now on their second string bowlers of Ervine and Mascerenhas who aren't THAT dangerous.

The same Mascerenhas who DESTROYED us at Hove a couple of years back in the Twenty20 with something like 4 wickets in an over???

Tavare was one of my favourite players. A bit too reckless for my liking but fundamentally sound.

I'm glad Chappers has told us that Ervine wasn't dangerous, I might be getting worried by now.

Time for a captain's innings from Grizz.
