and offered him the second highest deal ever for a Brighton player according to the club but of course you know better.
I am not saying i know better but Dick didn't realise his potential and the reason to have a stable team when progress up the leagues, he was an investment and should have had the foresight to see that, maybe he just saw him as a quick buck, how the hell we will get anywhere as a club if he keeps turning over the players he does and that's been proven this season.

But you are assuming that Knight did not want to keep him due to your agenda against him. Who says that Knight didn't offer him the most that we could afford but Hammond thought he could get more from a Championship team.

Personally, I was very disappointed with Hammond leaving because I thought he was a good player and important for us. But his decision to go to Colchester suggested he was after quick money as staying on with us would have been more ambitious in the long term. It would have been easier to accept if he had gone to a mid table/top half Championship team.

Pork pie land.
At the end of the day, his views are really those of a knowledgeable fan of the Club. Whilst most of us don't know as mucg as him about the Club or Football at this level in general, I think most can see his point of view.

Hammond left for the better money that was on offer elsewhere , as a professional footballer thats a recurring question that has to be answered until you get to the stage where your career is on the slide and the end is just around the corner. If he retires from the game at 38 he will still have to find something else jobwise for the next 30 years or so.

I maintain - if he WAS as good as people are making out, why is he playing for a mid-table League 1 nothing club like Colchester? Surely Ipswich and Norwich scouts would know all about his Lampard-type ability by now?

Dean Hammond left because Dick Knight didn't rate him - Dean Hammond was prepared to STAY AT BRIGHTON and get half the salary colchester were offering - Dick Knight told him to go or rot in the reserves

If he was prepared to stay for HALF the pay, and play a division below Colchester, he is a fool.

Hammond:“I am really enjoying it. It’s a great club, a club that is going somewhere" :lolol:

I'm sure he meant to say they are a club who are going places, but this is much funnier. Jerk.

Where have i said he was not offered a contract?

Fair enough. Dick Knight has said he was offered the second highest contract in the club's history, but that he chose to turn it down. One can only assume that Colchester, by offering him twice that amount, must have some wealthy backers.
