Anyone know if trick or treating will be allowed this year? Possibly if done so in a covid secure environment?

Anyone elses Halloween plans been thrown into disarray by the new tighter regulations? A socially distanced 6 at a Halloween party just doesn't seem the same.

the whole point is not to mix with others. allowing tribes of kids to walk around the streets together touching doors, sweets etc with their mothers following on with their glasses of wine nattering to each other is the definition of a virus spreading technique.

A pumpkin treasure hunt is being organised in our village instead. They have asked as many people as possible to display a pumpkin (or a pumpkin picture) at the front of their house and the kids will go around and find as many as possible. Seems sensible and safe.

My late father passed away on Halloween, so my general thought to that event is: **** halloween.

During this health crisis and people coming to the door, possibly in large groups, my general thought to that is: **** halloween.

Looking forward to not have to turn off the lights, the music etc to pretend I'm not home, the "pumpkin = available to harass" thing is not a thing here in Sweden yet as Halloween celebrations is fairly new. I cant afford to give away my cigarettes this year.

We usually invest in a ton of sweets and chocolates. The mistake is to offer the bowl to the first kids, some pigs grab handfuls if you let them.

Once they’re all gone, we don’t answer the door.

Some houses in Westdene which is over the hill from us, have signs up saying they’re not participating.

I was thinking so long as everyone taking part wore masks (obligitary for Halloween anyway) and gloves to ring the doorbell. Then people inside wishing to distribute sweets and money to the children could do so via a chute straight into the Children's basket (all of this at 2m distance). If the home owner refuses to give anything the trick will be to pelt their home with eggs which have been held in a covid secure bubble for 14 days prior. Surely all of this would be safe?

Last person that decided to throw eggs at my house and my neighbours wet themselves when we caught them. I'd suggest keeping your kids at home, making some 'scary' food and watching a horror movie rather than trying to blackmail people into giving them sweets or money.

Wife has just bought our two month old baby a pumpkin outfit. Commercialism at it's finest. £14 for one day's wear. Potentially £14 for 30 minutes wear until she pukes milk up on it.

Or more likely £14 to just get the photo up on instagram!

My Mrs says I’m grumpy, ( tell me something I don’t know) I say to her, you go and spend your money on hundreds of sweets and then answer the door every 2 minutes for at least an hour, let’s see who is smiling then.

I'm not a fan of it . . . . but we did have a few good street parties a few years ago, parents had a few drinks, kids had fun, feeding dogs toxic sweets!
. I cruised to victory in the pumpkin carving competition. My prize was not having to eat any of it. we gave the prizes to the kids.

No doubt someone will claim it's affecting their mental wellbeing not being able to go door to door to collect sweets!!

I normally enter into the spirit with a few decorations outside but I shan't be doing anything this year.

It's an opportunity to kick this horribly commercialised version of a good ol' English celebration back to the US of A - and hopefully they will keep it there instead of exporting their worst excesses of commercial crassness to us.
