[Albion] Half and half scarves

I know a couple of Albion fans who have whole rooms set up as shrines to the Albion. They have half n half Europa League scarves right up front as valid mementoes of this season's incredible journey. If it's good enough for them...

As an aside, there's a wonderful documentary still to be made about the whole half n half scarf industry. I find it fascinating

I assumed that anyone that bought one was either 1) a tourist or 2) A Plastic Man City fan sitting in the home end.

I was also stunned that they were taking "card or cash". Who in their right mind is paying by card to these guys?!

I’ve given up caring about them, the boy has bought an official Ajax one as a souvenir of his travels. Me and the Mrs bought two AEK scarves from outside the Metro station not only as a souvenir but as a gesture of peace as she was in block 8 and we were drinking pre match in home fans bars. The geezer changed us €7 for the pair (I wonder how much he’d charge the locals)

I’m yet to see a Brighton/Palace one but if I did I’d probably buy one (yes I’m aware I’m encouraging the sale) on the basis that it’s probably one of the most ridiculous things on the planet.

Half and half scarves are up there, with VAR and those tiny shinpads worn mainly by people with the first name Jack, as the worse things about modern football.

Any half and half scarf that combines red and blue should never be purchased by any self respecting Brighton fan, ever! Give your heads a wobble.

When arriving last night, on Village Way one seller of the half 'n' half scarfs was having a friendly chat with a policeman, and I think it had progressed from move along, to details being taken for trading without a licence.

When they started selling their tat at Brighton station when we moved to the Amex I contacted the club and the council and neither cared that fans were being ripped off with shoddy tat being sold by <I don't think I'm allowed to use the word any longer but think of them "up the road"> with no street traders licence. And chances of them paying tax on their ill-gotten? Well, what would you think?

I just can't understand why anybody would ever buy one of these scarves. (Although if we got to play Barca in a CL final I probably would!)

The only half and half I've ever bought was outside Twickenham, having been to Minnesota Vikings vs Cleveland Browns as a tourist (enjoyed the spectacle). They were £10 before the game, then they were fogging them for £1 on the way out after the game. So I bought one on the way out. There, I said it.

Would I ever buy a BHA half and half ? Mmmnah.

Whilst I’m not 100% on the correct terminology isn’t it only people selling from stalls/vehicles that require a license and those without are hawkers/pedlars which is covered by something else?

I think there’s still an element of fans who live down here, have Albion STs and whose second team is Brighton. So dad is a Chelsea, Liverpool, city, Arsenal, Man U, Spurs fan and sonny has grown up with that pressure but feels they should support us. I was surprised by the number of young children with city scarves last night. Are we going back to the bad old days where people have a “top” club and support their local team??

First point, fans being ripped off, surely they go into this with their eyes wide open when buying on the street, they don’t have to buy it.
Clubs are legally ripping people off through alcohol sales for example, what is it, £8 a pint at Arsenal? We can sell it for a fiver, Spoons can sell it for £3.50 the brewery can sell it for about 80p. How much do the club pay for a pie?
(I understand how legitimate business works, I’m just saying you pay your money to take your choice)

As for “paying tax on their ill gotten” is it ill gotten? It’s hardly robbing the till in the Oxfam shop. As for that tax lark, you telling me you’ve never paid a tradesman cash? I’ve paid tax all my working life but if I could get out of it I would.

As with match programmes, I've always wondered what they do with unsold ones?
Unpick them and use the high quality cashmere on a different design?

When we played Villa away at the end of the 16/17 season before the game I saw loads of Brighton Championship Champions and Brighton promoted to the Premiership!

I would say so - although many others probably have a very different view. I bought one from the club shop for the Roma game as it had the dates of both legs and I went to Rome for the away leg.

Plenty of people don't carry cash these days...

What breaches copyright? The word Brighton isn't copyrighted. They don't use the logo on the scarves and word them carefully not to use anything copyrighted (see the posts above about Premier League and Premiership for example).
