The answer, on the footballing side, is Paul Barber. Whether or not it is a necessary evil, is down to opinion.

Who works under direct orders from Bloom

I don't understand how this can be laid at the door of Barber. Gus had more money than Freedman and Holloway but blew it tactically when it came to the main event.

No, who's paid by Bloom to do a job: cut costs and make more money. He clearly doesn't give him direct orders in every single little aspect of the role, or there would be no point in him being there.

It is rumoured that Gus knew his budget was going to be reduced prior to the play off games and had a barny about it so went into the play offs in he wrong frame of mind. Hence the interview after the game saying he was considering his future.

If that is true then amazingly Bloom would set that budget so why blame Barber for everything ?

He needed to spend to have a competitive squad at this level, palace already had a squad of championship players compared to our league 1 players.

Absolutely spot on.

And, although I don't like him, it's not Barber's fault. He has been brought in to sort out a mess. Ask yourselves how, with the best attendance in the league, massive merchandise sales, huge amounts of food and drink quaffed, record amount of corporates and a comparatively modest playing budget, our losses are greater than Palace's? Someone appears to have messed up big time and Barber has been tasked with sorting it out. He's the cure not the problem. Let's hope the medicine doesn't kill the patient.

I don't understand how buying loads of players makes instant success, it does not and takes time - all we are doing is investing what should have happened over the sterile Withdean years.

Holloway was working with a group of experienced Championship players. He only got Phillips and Dobbie in. He is the most experience manage working when it comes to the playoffs. Freedman didn't make it that far.

What the Google has happened? How is it possible that we find ourselves in turmoil, how did we end up here. We had the team, the support, the money, the stadium and it all went pop. Heart breaking.

It seems to me something commercially was very wrong as each week record pie and ale sales yet we are making no money. Let alone all the 1901 stuff, record shirt sales etc.

Bloody hell, what a lot of misery. Finished fourth. Fantastic football (when plan a was working). Great league. If you think you've wasted money think about the personal saving of not going up. We have no idea what's gone on. But we do know Tony's put more money in than any of us will ever see. I choose to give him and his team a break.
