The Mirror is quoting a playing budget for next season, transfers included, of £10m.
I think we are getting a bit too 'billy big bollocks' down here if we start calling a club like Fulham 'tinpot'.....I'd certainly be over the moon if we get to a position ever where we are an established mid table premiership side, attracting a few star players every year to watch and where most seasons we have a decent cup run and some memorable nights knocking a few of the big teams off their perch.....Poyet would never turn them down but to be honest if Martinez doesn't go to Everton then Fulham's got his name all over it.....

Exactly. I remember several visits to Craven Cottage in the 90's when we had more fans in the ground than Fulham.

We've always taken good numbers there but that is just not true.
You don't need to go back that far. We had a higher average gate than them this season. Already resigned myself to him leaving though. A manager with a healthy relationship with his Chairman wouldn't make those comments. People say it's heat of the moment but he made them in the TV interviews & after to the Press. Hope he carries on but would like to hear some unequivocal commitment - refusing to quash rumours as they arise is starting to take the piss.

I disagree. Jimmy Hill even said in an interview after one of our games that there were more BHA fans in the ground than Fulham.

I think the funniest part of this whole story is that Fulham are considering Jol's job due to poor 5 game run at the end of the season.
Just how many 7-10 game winless streaks has Gus had in the last 2 years? How many times have the board or the papers put Poyet's job under pressure?
Sometimes you need to lose it to be grateful for what you had, Gus might want to think on that.

Having seen this thread, I have just spoken to a contact who works at Fulham and it would appear that the wheels are in motion. The underlying feeling at Craven Cottage is that Jol is going ( very soon ) and that Poyet is the preferred replacement.
Like a lot of clubs, they are falling into the trap of believing all the hype about Gus. He certainly does a good job selling himself. Never mind his failings, he just keeps bigging himself up all the time. He should spend a little more time analysing his own performance rather than waving his arms in the technical area, playing to the crowd and bemoaning his players. By the time he realised what was happening Monday night, Holloway went looking to finish the job, made changes and was rewarded. The difference between a proactive manager and a reactive one. Gus sticks to one rigid gameplan and only reacts when something significant happens i.e we go a goal down or lose a man. Thats why we haven't come from behind to win in over 90 games. He can't react in time, when the game is already running away from you. You have to make changes quickly sometimes and be brave. Gus sits on his hands for long periods and then blames the players. The fans get wrapped up in his own charisma and publicity and also blame the players. He is very good at deflecting blame and very very good at self publicity.
What he is not so good at is thinking on his feet during games. This is how we are going to play for 90 minutes and if it doesn't work, its not my fault. I've set the system up. Its a good system and its the players fault if they can't carry out my instructions. I need to be working at a bigger club and with better players to achieve my ambitions.
In short he is still being ' found out ' by some other managers and outsmarted over 90 minutes. He may learn and mature more but at the moment he is still a novice. He doesn't believe he is a novice. Obviously, he believes he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Thats his opinion.
Its time for Gus to go. He can't take BHA any further because, at the moment, he is not good enough to take us any further. He has hit his own roof. We need to be placed in more experienced and more skilled hands and I trust Tony Bloom to find the right man for the job ahead.

This. Goes to Premier League club. Gets found out. 2 years time Gus 'Come and get me' Poyet is managing Oldham Athletic in the third tier, Zaragoza and Chelsea a distant dream.
why give him away ? Bridcut is worth far more than that and Sidwell is not the player he was !

That was based on Liam being in the £4-5m bracket and Sidwell in the £1-2m, which I think is reasonable for both.

And Gus only got us to 4th. What a clueless ****, we're better off without him - he's lost my respect, he shouldn't tout himself he should say he'll never leave Brighton even if he doesn't mean it, I wish we had that fine gentleman Harry Redknap, blah blah etc etc
