Good firefighter. Similar to Slade. Let's see how Gus does with a full season up there.

Now, what did he do in his first full season with us.......................

Oh yes, I remember. went to the top of the league in August and stayed there all season. Pretty pathetic, really.

Gus could finish just three points short of Palace, whilst guiding Sunderland to a league cup final, and FA Cup Semi Final.

A bigger achievement than Pulis?

I said weeks ago that when we went down having been to the final this year then that would have been my best season ever, that added to staying up makes it even better

Is Gus Poyet the GREATEST manager in the history of football to save Sunderland from relegation ?

Poyet is simply amazing, a faultless God. The word "greatest" is just so inadequate.

Sunderland haven't had a bad season and were only bottom for so long because they kept carrying games in hand.

Wait for the points deduction. Once correctly administered they'll be down.

If a 'big club' wanted him, they'd be prepared to pay the compensation for him. It's all about money.

I read somewhere that in his contract, if he saved Sunderland, no compensation would be due if another club took him on or he chose to leave. However, if they went down and he wanted to leave or another club came in for him compensation would come into play. I don't know how true this is so please don't ask me to find the quote :lolol:

That said contrary to suggestion on here, clubs don't get much bigger than Sunderland so I can't see him being tempted to leave there soon tbf.

Great manager. But gob on a stick. Until he learns to engage his brain before opening his mouth it will always end in tears.

But if he DOES learn to do that, then the world is his lobster.

But all credit to him for what he's done with Sunderland. But watch this space.

Which will not happen as the case has already been closed and they will not return on it now mistake made by the club on a player they owned and registration which was brought to the FAs attention by the club, very different from the Tevez affair.

Congratulations Tom, it’s been a good couple of weeks for you, also helped by the suicidal tendencies of the clubs around you playing musical chairs with their managers. They all deserved to be relegated more than Sunderland in the end. Still there's always next year, but for now well done.

Haha cheers, always the same as a Sunderland fan and rollercoasters, cup final one week expecting relegation a few weeks later then go on a run against the top sides and manage to stay up, I now remember why we ALL love football so much no matter what club

And deliberately kept quiet about. The lawyers might take a different view. Precedents have been set and this has not followed that route.

Every other club who has fielded an illegible player have been docked points in the league or thrown out the cup.

The reasons behind why the player should not have played is irrelevant the fact he did warrants the deduction.
