I cannot believe the immense stupidity and ignorance of the retards who are now apparently turning on gus. You know who you are and a disgrace to our club and this board. Get a grip on reality for a change will you!

Is anyone turning on Gus? Apart from the usual wind up merchants on here

Calm down everyone.....

Its pretty obvious that Gus wont be here much longer, he is off as soon as a decent offer comes along, and when he goes it will be because of the fans or because he didnt have enough money to spend, not because he is a disloyal w**ker.

Here we go, did you dictate this piece of rubbish ? A few dodgy results and the manager is going to walk ? Beggars belief the way some people think.

it is gus that picks the team so he has to carry the responsability for the results you cant have it both ways . the problem is the squad in general is just not good enough in depth.hart holroyd sandaza not good enough murray sub then not clearly a problem unless injured, woods jury still out and barnes how many chances , it is going to cost us sooner rather than later .to not pick up a player before the loan window closed and citing that we were priced out is somewhat worrying.we may be four points clear but we were 8 and if barnes could finish and we could defend in the ninetieth minute of each game we would be even better off . we still have a long way to go and gus and bloom have said that dealings in january is not a time they like to change to much but unless they do we will struggle to make the play offs.

The most curious thing..
The problem if the fringe aren't up to it, is what is available to replace them at an affordable price, and would the replacements be much better that what we have already. You can't loose and replace half a squad in January (although there might be a clear out in the summer depending on resources and where we end up)

So he's going to flounce out of here at the first sign of trouble, rubbish! He needs something good on his CV before he gets a better job than ours. Certainly not going to get a prem job until he has achieved something. Can't see any prem or even champinship chairmen taking a gamble on a third division manager who has done nothing yet. And if he can't take a bit of crticism after a poorish performance against such poor opposition, he might as well give up now, the bigger the club, the more pressure there is, and he needs to learn how to handle that pressure.

He needs to stay here, take us up and keep us in the Championship for a year, before there will be any serious job offers for him. Yes, bigger clubs will be keeping an eye on him, but he needs more experience before they will move after him.

Spot on,you can't be thin skinned and a football manager! The booing may be ill judged, but it won't have done him or the team any harm.

Dont be so sure. Gus is used to getting his own way and having the best of everything. We missed out on a player because of wage demands but the facts are that our playing budget is one of the biggest in this division, without having the income of some other clubs. Gus has done wonderfull things for this club so far but as yet has achived nothing. Brighton and Hove Albion gave Gus his first job, with a brand spanking new £98million pound stadium just months away. Every club has its moaners, thats a fact of life. Poyet has not had his hands tied in terms of players and finance. I am 100% behind Poyet and would be furious if he left but he does sometimes come across as a spoilt brat, who throws his toys out the pram everytime something goes against him. I think he needs to grow up a bit imho. If he were to leave there would be a queue from the palace peir to Falmer for his job and not just journeymen like Pardew and Dowie. They say be carefull what you wish for but that works both ways Mr Poyet. He needs us as much as we need him at the moment, a fact that he should not overlook.

Correct!

to not pick up a player before the loan window closed and citing that we were priced out is somewhat worrying.
No it's not. It's a statement to the effect that the Club will live within our means and won't be dictated to by players and agents.

When "our means" become bigger - next season - the options will be different.

Gus knows that promotion this season can't be bought with cash. It can be achieved by turning the players we have into a more effective team than our opponents (who HAVE thrown money at the promotion chase). Performances by a 'B' team against FC United in a tournament we won't win are TOTALLY irrelevant, especially since players were rested because we have important games coming up against Colchester and Huddersfield.

So far ... the plan is WORKING. We are top of the league, ahead of teams with better players.

I agree with you re 'our means',but have a slight problem accepting that poor performances against the likes of Woking and FCUM are TOTALLY irrelevant.I don't believe they are...our reserves( although the team contained a number of first teamers) should be able to see off the likes of FCUM.I would hope that the fringe players would take the opportunity to impress the boss and show they are capable of pressing for a first team place.Additionally, winning and scoring goals is a good habit to get into....whatever the opposition.Had the likes of Barnes,Murray and Sandaza knocked in one or two goals it would have done nothing but good for their confidence and hence their prospects of continuing the scoring habit in the all important league.
IMHO, of course.....and don't forget, like all us pundits I passed the Keyboard Footy Manager badges with distinction!!:lolol:

So can I get this straight. You think it would be reasonable for Gus to walk because he got a few boos at halftime yesterday?

No, of course not. He's a professional, been in the game long enough, he knows the score - but it starts with some booing, gets continued and snowballed here, and eventually anyone would get fed up with it.

You also think that because people are questioning playing a weakened team and are pissed off at the result that the fans are no longer behind him?

I don't know exactly why people are questioning a weakened team when if they had any sense they already knew it was going to be - everybody knows the league is the priority and he couldn't give a toss about the cup. You've only got to read some of the posts on here, already asking for him to go - and if they are meant in jest, the other sheep will start to follow.

As for drama queen, I think not - but that's your opinion - I just saw something in Gus during the post match interviews that I've not seen before, to suggest he won't be here much longer, if he gets a half-decent offer - and I don't think the post about him getting the Ipswich job is necessarily wide of the mark.

It just worries me that people boo and fire off all sorts of posts without realising what they have.

What the first Woking game brought us (even though I agreed with the team changes at the time, but have since changed my mind with hindsight) was a disruption to our winning mentality, using players who collectively weren't up to it. Losing certain individuals hasn't helped, and we've suffered ever since.

I don't agree that the poor performances are irrelevant, because that sort of thing has a tendency to spill over into League games - as Hartlepool and B Rovers showed.

However neither do I believe a few boos are going to make Gus go off in a hissy fit. For one thing, if he is perceived by possible recruiters as not being able to cope with a minor wobble during a (so far) good season; how will this affect his chances of moving higher up the managerial ladder where the pressures would be considerably greater?

He is still pretty inexperienced, despite some great qualities; and he is learning. Hopefully he will have learnt that bunging the reserves in for cup games can screw up your momentum !

So, lets all cut him some slack; and ignore some of the wind up trolls on this board; who are a complete and utter f***ing pain in the bum.

Gus has been preparing his exit as soon as he was offered the job! He has his eyes on much bigger managerial jobs. It would be nice if he sticks around, but after one season at The Amex I think the pull of the Premiership, even a struggling club will be too much to resist. I think our only chance of keeping him longer is if he gets a very good budget to work with.

Of course.

Now comes the dilemma. Assuming we win the replay at Bury, would a 3rd round game against (say) Arsenal be a more disruptive distraction than a 3rd round game against (say) Hereford United?

"They may get fed up, but I can get fed up too". In other words if the League push waines and West Ham come a knocking i'm off.

I just don't understand the attitude to the FA cup. I know the league is the priority but why not take the view that we should just maintain momentum. Carry on as you are with the same winning team maintaining that level of confidence that winning breeds. Using the cup as just perhaps a test for fringe players has backfired in that we two extra games that could infringe on focus on the league. I would never condone booing but it is frustrating.

When you watch the highlights we absolutely bombarded them. The boos were ignorant as we were very unlucky not to win.
