Do you understand the big picture? Do you understand what Gus is doing at the club? Do you understand that it is a massive, long-term job? Do you understand that he has changed the way the club do things from the bottom up? Making the under 8's play the same passing football as the first team? Getting rid of the old set-in-their-ways dinosaur youth coaches? Completely overhauling everything to make it more professional? The academy? Building the foundations for the Premier League so we can stay there once we get there, not just buying a load of ageing Premier League players to get us promoted and then coming straight back down again?

Do you know why Barcelona are such a good team? It isn't down to money. All the top clubs have money. It's because the club is an institution, it has a way of doing things, and that way is the same from the 8 year olds all the way up to Messi and Iniesta. The way they teach the players, the way the bring the players through. The Barcelona way. That is what Gus is trying to create here, that kind of system. The problem is, the more unintelligent of us (you) think his job is only about making the first team win every single match they play. It isn't. It's a grand plan, and it is going very well indeed.

Our league position has got consistently higher since the day he took over, and we are in the perfect position of mid-table in the Championship, half way through our first season back in it. We have the country's top clubs wanting to pay millions of pounds for kids who Gus has brought through the youth team, and we have more promising youngsters waiting to be promoted to the first team to take their place. We have a fantastic new stadium which we are already trying to extend so we can meet the insatiable demand to watch us, and we are building one of the best academies in the country so we can produce even better kids for the first team, or sell on for millions of pounds to enable us to sign top quality players. A massive amount of this is down to Gus. Yes, it's Bloom's money, but can you imagine all this going on with Micky Adams in charge? Russel Slade? Mark Mcghee? Even Stevie Coppell? No. Do you think players of the calibre of CMS would have considered us if it wasn't for Gus? No.

The whole club is being transformed, and Gus is involved on every level. Along with Tony Bloom, he is the best thing to happen to this club in the last 25 years, and if he stays long enough, quite possibly ever. Yes, he makes the odd mistake or strange decision, but this is his first job as a Manager, and Ferguson and Mourinho still make mistakes.

It isn't just about the 1st team winning football matches (which we have still won more than our fair share of). So please tell me, exactly what the f*** you are moaning about, and who you think would do a better job bearing mind all of the above?

The thing with WW is, he isn't stupid. He's a bit odd in that he seems to get some kind of weird kick about posting negative stuff and seeing how many replies and how much abuse he gets, but I don't think he is serious, I just don't think he has anything better to do, which is a bit sad really. As Simster says, it will probably stop when he gets a girlfriend.

But the problem is, retards like the cock below think it is serious, and actually agree with him.

This, this and this

I have learnt how wrong I am to question Gus. When he made the double substitution when we went down to 9 men against Burnley I thought he'd gone postal. However what we produced for the remainder of the game was downright tactical genius.

In Gus I trust

An alternative analysis - ups and downs not included.

So in two years he's halved our league position, so in another two years we'll be 17th or 18th in the league so around about where QPR are now. Woo-hoo

It's all opinion.
If Withdean Wanderer is an actual poster with those actual opinions on this thread, then counter them.
These sorts of criticisms only serve as a tray for the sycophants to say he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and you and your "this, oh this" pals would be getting the knives out if he were to fall flat and we sank down the league.

As for glorifying this 'passing game' revolution - look at the top league clubs and ask whether it's just about a passing game, or something a bit deeper and wider than that. For United it's command over the ball, insistence/persistence, individual skills, possession and fulfillment of intent, as well as ability to back each other up, make space and provide options for the one with the ball, and yes - pass properly.

Do I understand you think that wouldn't be good enough? Or did I see sarcasm when it wasn't there ??? :albion2:

I realised after i posted that woo hoo might be misconstrued. I'm more than happy with our current situation and if we were propping up the premier league that would be great especially if we were just outside the relegation zone and therefore competitive.

Oh dear NMH. Football (and I mean actual football, not stewarding at football) is the one subject you can usually be relied upon to talk some sense. I'm not sure what you are getting at with my "this, oh this" pals either (I have no idea who they are and have never met a single one of them). In fact, reading your post again, I'm not sure what you're getting at with any of it.

All the top clubs play the passing game to some degree, as have virtually all clubs who have ever been successful at the top level. I cant work out whether you are disagreeing with me, agreeing with me, or doing your usual trick of wittering off on a tangent without actually making a point at all.

As good, accurate and amusing as your post is, you probably could've stop at this point because the answer to all these questions is a simple no.

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion and whilst fishing trips and binfests are all good fun and an integral part of NSC, anyone who doesn't agree with absolutely every single word of that is an ignorant wanker. That's a fact btw, not an opinion.

(I'm sure the OP agrees with it as well, but then he'd lose his position as NSC's pantomime villain)

There is no singular viewpoint on this, regardless of how many "this, I want a tattoo on my back etc" one opinion gets.
Wittering off at a tangent just because I counter with that? Well, remind me to come up with some new dismissive asnide to render your opinion worthless!

WW, whatever you (and I) think of him, may go ott when the going gets slightly rough - but there's quite a list of players and he's researched a bit there I reckon.
Calling everyone a moron who might side with WW is all rather convenient - perhaps easier than offering a more cogent response to the list eh?

Gus is creating a new method from the bottom up - but that doesn't address his activity on the transfer market really, does it?

As for glorifying this 'passing game' revolution - look at the top league clubs and ask whether it's just about a passing game, or something a bit deeper and wider than that. For United it's command over the ball, insistence/persistence, individual skills, possession and fulfillment of intent, as well as ability to back each other up, make space and provide options for the one with the ball, and yes - pass properly.

Don't be a bellend. If WW came on here and posted some constructive criticism then people might discuss it, but he doesn't want that to happen so he puts the most nagative end of his thought spectrum and adds in some unnecessary insults to wind people up. He's a WUM, pure and simple.

As for the people constantly slagging off Gus, like Bigbelly, terryberry, zebedee (off the top of my head) they are all just really, really thick.

Just far enough away from LDC
Holroyd - shit Certainly a disappointment but given how the team progressed we never really saw anough of him to form a full judgement
Arismendi - shit was he? he came in with a track record, didnt play much due to injury and didnt cost us a penny
Hendrie - past it I thought he did a good job for us and again didnt cost us anything
LuaLua - class but injury prone he's had tight hamstrings and leg break with us. Certainly more credits than debits with him
Barnes - superb League 1 signing, not up to it in Championship maybe not the way position he has been playing recently in terms of goal scoring but his overall contribution to the team, ability to play deep and tackle back and isnt he still our top goal score currently?
Ankergren - ditto Barnes I'd say he is generally solid but prone to lapses but again was on a free so has done a job for us
Calderon - great in League 1, jury's out now though went through a dodgy spell with people cutting inside on him but seems to have been solid since then
Painter - ditto Calderon I think this is fair
Greer - great signing agreed
Sandaza - shit totally disagree, was very pleased for a free transfer
Brezovan - unconvincing keeper really??? he's a different style of keeper but I'm pleased with him
Hoskins - half a million pound sicknote half a million pound which isnt much at this level, i'd say judge on a full season
Buckley - great player but appears to be a million pound sicknote again judge on a full season
Mackail-Smith £2.5million. 6 goals and 9 assists plus tremedous drive and energy
Kishishev - did the job for half a season before his legs packed up before personal problems
Wood - failed to impress after an encouraging start complete rubbish - very very very pleased with him last year despite what NSC would have the world believe
Vincelot - doesn't appear to offer anything other than versatility has been solid in the 4 positions we have played in him and looks good at this level
Paynter - shit, laughing stock ah yes, the albion need for a folk devil.
Bridcutt - great signing although a bit of a lucky one lucky? really? so if they're poor its not bad luck but if they're good it's luck. Hmmmmm
Vicente - has achieved the impossible in being a more expensive sicknote than Paul Kitson, and an even bigger joke yeah because he had a wonderful track record for injury when we got him hence why we were fighting off the premier league giants for him. If something looks too good to be true, it generally is. he has a history and most would have understood that when he signed
Harper - good keeper, 1 month loan = pointless really? Brezovan says he developed well working with harper
Sparrow - inconsistent midfielder, sometimes good, frequently anonymous I'd say frequently solid, sometimes excellent
Noone - good signing with potential, no end product currently ah yes, absolutely NO end product except for about 4 or 5 examples (Doncaster second goal, his goal against Peterborough, Blackpool etc
Harley - 1/4 million pounds worth of shit not a lot at this level and I think is showing some promise
Baz - shit a cheap gamble
Battipiedi - shit see baz

Just to humour NMH I have put my views above. We dont see in this list the players who've improved under Gus like Navarro, El Abd, Dunk, Cook, Hall etc

I kind of see what you are saying. You just didn't seem to actually give a point of view, that's all. I'm not having a go at WW, as Brovion says, he loves being NSC's pantomime villain, let him get on with it. If you read my post properly, I wasn't actually commenting on his post at all, I was commenting on people saying Gus isn't the right man for the job. WW hasn't said that.

As for Gus in the transfer market, he's made mistakes, just as every Manager has. He got us promoted with by no means the biggest budget in the division, and is now keeping us steady so we can continue to build, with a view to aiming for the play-offs next season. I'm more than happy with that. I don't think the transfer market is his biggest strength as a Manager (that is turning average players into good ones) but I don't think it's a weakness either. He's fairly astute in it, and is clearly good at selling the club to potential targets who possibly wouldn't have been interested otherwise.
