Gus Poyet appreciation Thread

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
It's almost 3 years since Gus arrived and changed us from relegation candidates in Lge 1, beat Southampton on tv 3-1 with his very first game, kept us safe that season, and then gave us a great season winning the division easily with a March record 8 wins out of 8. The very first game at the Amex will always stay with me, with Buckley winning it in extra time, and a top 10 finish in the Championship. Pre season tours in the Iberian peninsula and players like Kuczszak, Bridge, Bruno, Vicente, Buckley, Noone, Barnes, Bridcutt and LuaLua who cause me to jump up with anticipation. We are now in a great professional set up.

Ooooh, get her.

Sorry but it is getting f***ing ridiculous. We are TENTH and THREE points outside the playoffs. Some people on here haven't got a f***ing clue, genuinely.

I agree about the league position, and thank f*** for it because the way we're playing at present is dire.

But in the spirit of the thread, Thank f*** Gus came here in the first place as we'd still be dicking around in League 1, possibly 2 without him.

That's better.

Thank you Gus and Tano et al. You have made these last few years the best of my Albion life (Okay I'm only 23 but still) you've been amazing turning this club around with the help of TB (Who mustn't be forgotten) and have taken this club so so far I'm unable to find a word for it.

Thank you, for giving me a team to be proud of again.

Thank you, for brining in Will Buckley and putting him on at the right time to score the winner at the first game at the Amex.

Thank you, for attracting flair players to Brighton, that would not have even considered coming here if it was not for you persuasive charm and ability to hypnotise them.

Thank you for seriously upping the profile of Brighton and Hove Albion.

But most of all, thank you for the best football I have ever seen being played by a Brighton team. The game against Sheffield Wednesday was amazing.

Don't want to spoil the party, but my biggest thanks go to Dick Knight for saving the club and to Tony Bloom for providing the foundations for the club to thrive and eventually become a steady performer in the top flight........with or without Gus.

Agreed - especially to Tony Bloom for getting a manager of the calibre of Gus to come to us.

Now you definately are talking shit now.

Getting a manager of the Calibre of Gus?

Lets forget for a moment whatever anyone says about him now, but he was untested when we got him. He had no calibre and TOny Bloom took a gamble on him.

Kiss his arse by all means, but f*** me thats taking it a bit far.

I'm sure if things do change here, and I for one still hope Gus comes good, but doubt it more and more that he is willing to adapt, then I am sure there will be a very high calibre of proven managers screambling for this job.

Can't understand negative comments about Gus or Dick Knight, 2 heroes in my book along with Tony. Unfortunately there are always those with short memories, they should eat more fish!

Agreed. Why everyone is giving all the priase to Gus is beyond me. He done a great job getting us to the championship, no doubt about that, but with the resources available, others could have done the same.

Tony Bloom is the legend who has set all this up and whose arse should be being kissed. Gus is along for the ride.

I appreciate everything he has done since coming here. We have had some good times with him a the helm. Realistically since midway through last season he has not had a good time of it. His team selections and stubborness will be his downfall. No team will ever get promoted without a plan b, Gus dont do plan b. It's plan A or the highway. I personally think he has taken us as far as he can, All good things come to an end, i think the end for Gus is near. Sorry to piss on the parade of the Gus Arse lickers
