Gus looking at Joaquín Álvarez Álvarez "Quini" a striker from Spanish Second Division

Poyet 'fishing' in Spain. The Brighton is interested in signing striker Alcorcón, Quini. Apparently the player has received interest from a couple of teams in the Spanish first division and, if materialize, their representatives have told the whole Gustavo Poyet in the top of League One or equivalent to our second B, who can not commit yet.

On a side note he used to play for ZAMORA in Spain... Could this be a good omen? ???

From what I gather he was top scorer in the Spanish 2nd division last season!

It seems to suggest that League One is equivalent to Spain's 2nd league.

In a pile of football shirts
Spains 2nd league is more akin to our League 2.

His currnet team, Alcorcon has a ground capacity of 3000

In a city renowned for gays having a player called "Quini" would be great for shirt sales.

You mean that

"The Brighton is interested in filing the forward of the Alcorcón, Quini. Apparently, the soccer player has received the interest of a pair of equipment of the First Spanish Division and, in case they take shape, their representatives have said to him to the set of Gustavo Poyet, in the high part of the League One or equivalent to ours Second B, that cannot still be committed"

is not the proper translation?

What is a pair of equipment?

But then Calderon came from Deportivo Alaves, who are now in the league below this chap. Consider that in the Segunda division you have teams like Real Betis playing in 50k + seater stadiums, who would walk all over any league 2 side.

Don't agree with that, Barca B would smash most teams in our league and probably in the championship as well. Some good teams in the 2nd tier of Spain

Agreed, I'd personally guess at half the Segunda division being Championship standard, quite a few League One, and a handful L2.

It does seem though, that in other leagues around Europe the quality filters out much quicker than in England.
