It must just be me, but I didn't read anything into that interview at all.

I know he was terribly dissapointed with his team who didn't perform and it must have been difficult to him to watch...as it was for us.

I took it to say that he set the bar high ie the roof, and the players failed to come up to that.

I didn't see it as a threat too bloom, more a honest assessment of what we need to do next season.

If Gus is not here next season to take us forward, whoever comes in will be faced with the same problem.

Also personally I think those who are expecting us to go up automatically are deluded. We have some very good sides coming back down, Wigan, reading and qpr and palace or Watford being here.....not counting the boltons and Leicesters of this world.

It will be a very interesting season coming up.

As Peter Beagrie said it was totally out of order by the reporter to even ask him the question and put him in that awkward position so soon after losing the game. No he hasnt lost my respect I think that he answered the question correctly he has got to consider his and the clubs future, and the route they intend to take to overcome this defeat.

I agree with most of that, though after how Blackburn and Wolves were this season and noting how unpredictable this league is, there's no reason why we can't go up automatically.

Also no reason why Reading or QPR can't get another relegation either....which would be nice !!

My estimation and I am sure that of many is that automatic next season is based on keeping the players from this season who have performed and replacing the ones who havent and I honestly believe that we were the best team in the division and had Ulloa and Upson joined us in August and not January we would have won the division but that is all ifs and buts

We were not the best team...Watford were/ are a better team tan us for a start.

I agree that we need to try and keep hold of the majority of the side, but I suspect bridge and bridcutt won't be here next season.

I personally think Gus wants automatic promotion next season, to achieve this he needs a good budget. If TB isn't willing to meet that budget then their ambitions don't match. GP was put on the spot and answered honestly. He doesn't want this heart ache next season.

If a manager is worth anything the big clubs will come calling.

Although emotions will have played apart, I don't think it right that just after the club and fans have taken a beating from Palarse and narrowly missed a dream trip to Wembley, that Gus should in my eyes infer that he's open to offers, by saying he's considering his future.

Focus on commitment to your well paid job and future commitment to doing it well and job offers will inevitably come, if you want to go. Having watched last nights performance, listening to the post match interview just made it worse.

Nobody is bigger than the club, and maybe the club has 'reached it's roof' with Gus?

Just an opinion.

There is no loyalty in football apart from the fans. Just get used to it, it's the way it is. Gus will leave when he is offered what he sees as a better opportunity. He does love putting himself in the shop window though.

Sorry got to disagree I think that overall we are/were a better team than Watford and as I said had Upson and ulloa joined us in August we would have been champions above both Watford and Cardiff. I think that is highly likely that we will keep Bridge and Upson on permanent deals my biggest worry is losing Kuszczak as he stormed off Monday as soon as the game finished and obviously thinks that he could play in the Premier. We will possibly lose Bridcutt but there are a number of similar players at other clubs and if the price is right I am sure that we can adequately replace him. It is all down to opinions

Very well put Dave. Agree with every word. Looking forward to seeing what happens over the summer, I think we will be in for an exciting time next season.

In my own strange world
I was pretty pissed off with GP's comments after the match which certainly lowered my mood even more, seemed to me to be a "Kevin Keegan moment" I think he should stop sulking ,man-up and get on with continuing his plan to build the team up.He needs to take a look around him and see what a fantastic set up our great club has become,be careful what you wish for Gus,you will never have the opportunity you have with us,and respect the Albion fans,we never gave up,we were on the brink of oblivion and the blood sweat and tears of us fans kept this club alive and got us where we are today we don't deserve this kind of crap. This club has been described as a sleeping giant, well the giant has woken up now and is ready to kick some arse. This team we have now is a couple of players away from being a league winning team not a team to to be second best,we fans of BHA are the best in the world,WE saved our club,we don't know the meaning of the word quit,we are the people of Sussex by the Sea and We wunt be Druv!

He hasn't lost my respect.

Thanks Gus, for...

- Guiding us to safety in year one
- Securing the League 1 trophy in year 2
- Consolidating our position in the championship in year 3
- Getting us into the play offs in year 4

And on the way we've had the chance to see Albion players capped; we've seen players come to the club that we might only have dreamed of in the decade gone past; and we've seen a truly entertaining brand of football.

In an industry that feeds itself on the expectation of career transience he has been here nearly four seasons. Not bad, and long enough to change the brand of football I remember us playing. So thank you, and whatever you decide I wish you nothing but the very best. I hope you decide to stay here for another season, because I believe there is more you can do and learn by being here.

I, too, agree wholeheartedly with this.

I think he is just being totally honest and, to a certain extent, wearing his heart on his sleeve - the Latin temperament, perhaps. I trust and respect Gus possibly all the more for this. If he were to go, I think it would only genuinely be because he felt he couldn't do more.

And I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that.

I just hope the chat with Tony leads to
1. Gus getting some training on how to deal with difficult interviews.(I thought the questioner knew he would get a controversial answer and did his job well).
2. Gus coming away with a clear idea of FFP and how we are planning to meet this and how the so called clubs who would be interested in him would have their own roof. A roof that would probably mean that changing everything like he has with us may not be possible because these clubs can't afford to risk the time this would take. I think we may be the only place that Gus will ever be able to have input and influence on so much of a club, let alone the playing side. It was a 5 year plan he signed up to and we have kept our side of the bargain, including the training facilities which should make us robust to the demands of FFP.
The grass always looks greener elsewhere and Tony needs to show him how far we have come and what we have in store compared to others. I would also point out the relation of the longevity of a Ferguson, Moyes, Wenger etc and that the success particularly in FFP terms it brings. Gus has a weakness over how Spurs treated Ramos so he needs to be reminded of this and our approach as a club.

The OP has lost my respect.

Will he cope? Does he even care? Will Gus bounce back and regain the OP's respect? Find out all this and more in next weeks episode of TalkShit.
