Border country.East Preston.
Nothing surprising there.
Those in the Gus fan club, seem to ignore the fact that he was doing exactly the same at Brighton. Eventually, his ego just ran away with him and he saw nothing wrong in having two meetings at Reading, whilst our season was still going on. He didn't see anything wrong in indicating to Reading that he was happy to accept their offer. He didn't stop Reading holding internal meetings with players and staff, to inform that GP was going to be their next manager. He saw nothing wrong in returning to BHA, informing them of Reading's interest and expecting them to improve his terms accordingly.
Reading pulled the plug on Poyet. Brighton pulled the plug on Poyet and surprise, surprise, so have Sunderland.
The man cannot be trusted. He is an odious individual, manipulating and pulling strings to suit himself. A hand-wringing smooth ' Uriah Heap ' Chairmen keep him on a tight rein because they don't trust him. His record speaks for itself. Goodness knows how many other clubs he tried to seduce whilst at BHA. No wonder TB lost patience with him.

From the Guardian:

Poyet, despite his frequent moans about a lack of autonomy, had a big say in transfers, sabotaging Congerton’s summer attempts to sign Micah Richards and Toby Alderweireld while being permitted to recruit the ineffective Will Buckley, Sebastián Coates, Ricardo Álvarez and Santiago Vergini.

I read somewhere else that he phoned up their agents and said he didn't want them, that is why sabotage has been used to describe the events because the deals were as good as done.

Whilst i've always quite liked micah richards, he hasn't played much in the last few years but then the same could be said about Coates who they did sign.

Yep, obviously players can be hit or miss, Toby Alderweireld is doing very well at Shampton, but I think it was more about Poyet phoning up their agents and saying he didn't want them, when the deal had been on the verge of completion.

From the Mail :

"When Sunderland sporting director Lee Congerton set up a deal to bring in Atletico Madrid’s Toby Alderweireld in the summer, Poyet intervened and let the player’s agent know the defender would not figure if he signed."

The full story is interesting.

Good article in so many ways including the post match press conference. Poyet needs to change something as otherwise the whole of football will wise up to him the same as we and Sunderland have. He has lots of positives as a manager but sooner or later the negatives come to the front and then things get messy.

Agree, it is a shame really, but he is the master of his own downfall. He needs to purchase his own club to be fully entitled to do as he pleases. Still, he is a rich failure so he got somethings right. :)
