Should think it is odds on to be Harry possibly until end of season as he is 65 now so one last job to give his dog a final pay day before retiring to TV.

It already is Harry, no odds required.

The assistant manager will be in charge for their game this weekend against United, with Harry taking over after that.

It is very strange how many managers get the sack the day before a game against United and/or announce a manager the day before! Teams that get a new manager always play better for the first few games afterwards, surprised a team doesn't do this more often!

I hope Harry is not on Betfair laying the bet for all its worth then mysteriously refusing the QPR job

No chance of that, he doesn' t know how to "work a computer"....

Tony Fernandes must have the worst football advisors in the world.

either that or he's just another fat baffoon with a big wallet

The problem with Steve Cooghan is that he's got his fingers in too many pies - TV, films, spoof autobiographies, and also football. Something's got to give.

Wasnt Tony Fernandes away until then .. Think he has stopped off en route to Brazil for F1

I believe the situation was that Hughes was out after the Stains result, however, Tony Fernandez the chairman, was out of the country for a few days. He was " asked " to quit but refused to do so as, obviously, walking away loses Hughes his compensation package. Therefore they had to wait til Fernandez was back in the country to wield the axe and approve the redundancy package.
I think that one thing Hughes has learned from his old guvnor, old Bluenose, is the value of money.

I dont think that many managers get a lump sum cash settlement after being sacked now. I am sure I read that RDM will continue to receive his weekly wage of £60k until he gets another job, great incentive for him to look and take a lower paid job.

I think this explains why Gus says he doesn't want to go up to the Premiership before we are ready, even if it takes a season or two more.

How many times does a manager get a team promoted and is then fired after a few months? How pissed off must a manager to be to get the bullet only a short time after he must have thought he had conquered the world!

Better for the manager personally to get up when the team is able to compete properly. And I personally think that's better for the club as well. You may or may not agree.

Surely to be ready you need to come first or second in the Chamionship, the league should be a reflection of who are the best teams and therefore better equipped to cope at the higher level.

A wee bit tounge in cheek, but the thought that you can dip in and out of success at will is a dangerous policy for any club, Gus would love to get promoted this year, he is just managing expectations.

Ride any wave you can to get you there and enjoy it, I believe we nearly have all the infrastructure in place to at least have some semblance of a plan to compete at that level, but dont think its best to come mid table this year rather than excel and that it will all fall into place in a season or two.

Managers exit clauses are the most important part of their contracts these days.

Depending on your status and negotiation position many now have just a 3 or 6 month pay up clause if sacked.

This is disastrous news for Reading and Southampton.

I remember reading a comment by som sports journalist that clubs don't like to be the first to fire their manager, so once one has done it, expect others to follow. If Adkins fails to build on his victory over QPR he could still be gone soon.

It worked for West Brom being a yo-yo club a few times but taking the money and setting up a solid finacial base before being able to compete in the Premiership. I wouldn't mind being a yo-yo side and clearing Bloom's loan and seeing the Albion being self sufficient.

Maybe the offer to Redknapp to manage Ukraine sparked QPR into action. Dodgy as frick, but he tends to get the best out of a good number of players and could be the sort of man to save them - or finalise them going bust.

Without a doubt, in fact I would suggest that Redknapp put out the rumours about him managing Ukraine, to speed along Hughes's departure so that he could force Fernandez's hand to get the QPR job.
In other words, Redknapp gets Hughes the sack, allegedly.
