Was that aimed at the fans or agents of players we are trying to sign ?

Or opposition fans and managers who are moaning about us trying to buy the title?

The latter. That was my immediate reaction to that quote.

Agree entirely. Last season we had the same problems with agents trying to gas up the prices of players. Lost count of the number of idiots that think we're paying the full amount of Bridge's wages. :wozza:

To think chaps that's Brighton he's talking about.

I wonder how many training kits we had to offer Utd.

I think we all know the club are looking for bargains on ageing players with bags of experiences To go with a few other signings in the region of 2 million with a wage ceiling of around 15,000 grand a week

The players we have from Man C, Man U and Valencia cost us how much in tranfer fees, oh yeah thats right f*** ALL. Gus and the team are just good at doing business better than other clubs in the division.

Agents fa sho, but I'm sure that the Amex does make us competitive at the least with our wages. We must have a larger disposable income than many other clubs at this level thanks to our wonderful new home, I also expect that unlike last year, we will now start to see this increased revenue trickle into our transfer and wage kitty. :)

tbf i think we may be playing on our own reputation with a bit of smoke and mirrors of our own - our wages etc may be a little higher than we realise. Notice how f***ing AMBITIOUS we are right now!

The reason in my view is - we would all shit it a bit because of things palace divs might claim about us having a boom and bust strategy. I don't think we do, in a million years, but this club has a plan and that plan is promotion. We have the chairman, the manager, the stadium, the fans, the momentum and more and more the players to achieve this.

f***ing mad to think back when I was 13 and watching us all tear apart the goldstone after years of dross with more to follow... that we now have indeed ex-Valencia, City and MU...

Looking at the division so far, I would suggest Bolton, Wolves, Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Hull, Leicester, Middlesbrough and Watford would all be above us budget-wise. Thats excluding Leeds because I read somewhere that they're not in the spending mood but I would expect their wage budget to be way higher than ours...

I think its aimed at everybody to be honest.

Agents / Opposition Clubs - Don't think you'll be able to take us for a ride;
Opposition Fans - We're not as rich as you think;
Albion Fans - Don't get too carried away;
Bloom - Give me more money!

The gate money (£12m next season?) won't go far.

Many clubs splash money because they're speculating on future earnings. TB isn't prepared to do that.

Think you'll find we're WELL down the list of annual spenders in the Championship.

You don't know what TB is prepared to do, given the oppotunity. If we were top 3 in January & a £10million striker would likely bring promotion & £80m income he MAY just think that good value...I would

I hope Gus is right and we are spending within our means. There have been too many clubs gambling on the prem and ending up in administration. Although I feel TB is to shrewd for that.

But the Amex gives us much more of an income than just gate money. Also I think that clubs are less prepared to splash/gamble with FFP looming :shrug:
I'm not saying we are top spenders, but surely we must have an income towards the higher end of the Championship and I would imagine can offer competitive wages to players if Gus and Tony want to
