I'd prefer for the authorities bring him to justice and subsequently study him to help us prevent future lone wolf incidents like this.

Call me old fashioned, but not a fan of shoot-to-kill or torture, me.

I was never a supporter of armed police. but as long as these fanatics are prepared to die, and take as many innocent people with them as possible, I would much prefer them shot before they can do any harm.

The armed police already were able to do that without a "shoot to kill" policy.

One of the problems with a shoot to kill policy is that killing of the assailant is the goal, rather than just a last resort option; while these people are often more useful alive, for both information and justice.

If the attackers were wearing suicide vests fake or otherwise, I'm sure the idea is to stop them detonating.
The only way to be sure to avoid the attacker detonating their vest would be to shoot to kill, I would have thought.
