I am just glad my kids don't go to school in the real nut job states.

Connecticut wasn’t considered a‘nut job state’ prior to Sandy Hook.

Please post a link, I am truly interested.

Link from Piltdown Man: https://www.google.com/search?q=put...ExNzk2ajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

There's a first hand account of the incident in post #53. He was there and that's what happened, and you were saying it doesn't happen. You can't argue that it wouldn't have happened if the group in front had guns because you don't know they didn't have guns, and we know that there are many accounts of gun violence in the US where both the assailant and the victim have a gun (no link necessary).

Sorry if that was insensitive, I just meant the ones with less gun control. In all honesty though, I am glad they don't go to school and I don't teach anywhere in the states.

We tried, but Biden put a stop to it on his first day in office.
Trump said he was going to build it in his election campaign. He had 4 years to build it, and failed. You can't then blame the next president, because Trump never said 'I'm going to start building a wall, which will take more than one term to build'.

This is what Trump said:
"I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great great wall on our southern border and I’ll have Mexico pay for that wall."

Not only did he not build it, he did not get Mexico to pay for the bits that he did do.

I was living in the States when Sandy Hook happened and remember thinking that after the death of so many innocent children there would surely have to be some changes to the law. There was a lot of talk but nothing at all happened and I realised then that nothing would ever change. Some of my friends said their kids would have lockdown drills at their schools as if it was nothing out of the ordinary, like a fire drill in our schools. Seriously f***ed up.

I am sure I read that the majority of people in the US are supportive of tighter gun control. The NRA are too powerful and out of control. They need to get their shit together with lobbying over there. Too much influence in government.
If it was a real issue the electorate could . . . .

Well, if no candidate is standing as a gun control candidate then.....

But the NRA doesn't have widespread support, it......oh...

"Membership dues totaling $83,274,950 contributed the largest percentage (39.4%) of the NRA’s total revenue of $211,332,026 in 2022,"

Let's see how that stacks up against, say Reform-UK:

"Farage has said the party would largely be funded by small donations and that they raised "£750,000 in donations online, all in small sums of less than £500" in their first ten days. The party also accepts large donations, such as £200,000 donated by Jeremy Hosking, a former donor to the Conservative Party."

That's one one hundred thousandth the financial clout of the NRA.

All in all, therefore, I think that the NRA's influence is all properly bought and paid for. Good luck to them and their quest for carnage

I did cadets for a shirt while and fired a. 22 at a range.

The other time was working on our farm In Australia.

My brother also does a lot of pheasant shooting, although I haven't done that.

It would be interesting to know how many have/haven't though.
I never have. For the same reason I have never injected heroin

(lack of opportunity, and an expectation that I'd really enjoy it).

I read that quote with Trump's voice in my head, frightening.

Yes the appeal is certainly appealing. Sometimes it is better to deny ourselves that which is enticing.

I am sure I read around that time that much of it was already done. As a wall or fence or some such barrier.

There were fences etc, but I also seem to remember him saying how big it would be etc. It was a false promise.
