A stepped change from Broadsheet to Berliner format and now Broadsheet. Wonder what the future holds for the financially failing, just left of centre, off shore tax haven using Scott Trust?

Hopefully, they'll survive with an emphasis on digital media.

I wish they would stop the begging adverts, the paper has been in a state for a long time, so many bad writers and bad articles.

I read a lot of the Telegraph and Times to get my news, but I have to say that every time I pick up the Guardian I feel relaxed and comforted that there are still people out there that share my view of the world.

Its quite a liberal paper in my view, not particularly socialist. Not sure about the new format, probably doesn't matter much. Similar size to the Times now, are the Telegraph and FT the only 'big' papers left?

Its the lefts version of the Daily Mail, so not really fit for purpose in any shape it comes in.

Agree the Guardian is just the extreme lefty’s version of the daily mail . Hugely prejudiced newspaper.

Exactly...whilst some of the contributors are a bit regressive left, it's generally more balanced than the DM in my opinion.

It was an attempt at a joke... they don't always work written down.

Anyway back to the guardian: seems a natural progression from broadsheet, still a good paper most of the time, I prefer the Telegraph for the cricket reports.

Take out the editorials and the op-eds and you have a newspaper that tells the truth pretty much without a slant. I work with a 25 year old lad who is convinced the Grauniad is far left wing of the Trotskyite Party that spouts constant radical agendas. He joined me for lunch in the staff room last Saturday and said along the lines of " Oh I don't know if I can sit at the same table as you if your reading that Red Rag "

So I said " how about we go back to page one and we look through the pages for red bias then ? " So we did, he was surprised to find that he could not argue with any of the news stories in the first 20 pages and then said he was surprised by the non partisan reporting. So, don't let your pre judgement get in the way, oh, and funnily enough, that was the day The Gruaniad gave an op-ed page and a half to Boris Johnson.

The paper is now a slightly better quality for lighting the fire with - the Berliner had gone downhill and didn't catch so well (something to do with the density). However, being tabloid size, it is not nearly as good for holding up to the fireplace to create a draw. So, a winner and a loser really .

I find the Telegraph is best for lighting the fire, the Guardian is ok but the DM is rubbish.

I don't want to bang the Telegraph drum, but it's also the best for drying out wet shoes & trainers.

Well, well, well. Fancy that. You were right all along -and your bias was confirmed. How can you be so sure that it is "pretty much without a slant" when you are being informed about something about which you know little? Having seen how the East Germans reported everything in the 1980s, you don't have to lie about anything. You just concentrate on one issue and miss out the inconvenient bits.

The Guardian has a pretty catholic bunch of commentators: among its weekly contributors are Simon Jenkins and Matthew d'Ancona, while Anne Atkins is a regular contributor - all of them right of centre. Yes, the majority of its columnists are centre-left but the Guardian has a pretty diverse spread.

Funniest thing that I have read on NSC ever! I expect many Daily mail readers would say the same though.

Its obviously still the same balanced, well researched, objective, informative and well written journalism and reporting just in a different size.
