I was brought up on Grubbs (not literally, but it was just down the road from school) but when older used to stop in at Uncle Sams with Howard, Dave Young and the rest after a night on the beers.

But which is best? Uncle Sam's smooth and tasty or Grubbs with more texture and charring?

Grubbs every time (although preferably from Hove and not the one on London Road). Proper big thick burgers flame grilled and not thin things run through some dodgy machine. Nice wide range of toppings including chilli that you can appreciate the taste of rather than just being a chilli paste.

Oh my I remember Grubbs. I seem to recall I used to go bowling with my family and then we would make a stop-off there for a double-chilli burger or something along those lines.

Why are there so few branches of Uncle Sams in town these days?
