V off topic but, I had a delightful stroll down picturesque London Road at lunch time, and noticed a couple of fully grown 20 or 30 something men on skateboards intently skating on both pavement and road doing their silly jumps etc.

Being a 30 something man myself, I got bored with skateboarding at about the age of 13, realising that as a mode of transport they're about as useful as a lump of granite. Is it just me that thinks these blokes look like idiots and need to groq up?!

I wanted to open it up to let the good people of NSC to decide... Happy to be persuaded!

Nothing wrong with skateboarding at this age. There are pros your age still skating now. Professional Skateboarders get to go around the whole world these days, and make a very good living out of it. They also stay healthy, apart from broken bones.

'Doing skills' on a skateboard sounds like great fun, but just looks a bit out of place when us 40 somethings do it.....I don't want to look stupid. I'll stick to my space hopper thanks very much!

There's always that chance they're going to fall off and look like (more of) a TIT.

I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous statement about context. Happy for them to be doing it in skate parks etc.

I'm 30 this month and still Snowboard regularly, I will now have sleepless nights knowing the discerning contributors of NSC may frown upon me.

Snowboarding is completely f'in different!! This is not a poll about "xtreme" sports as a whole. You have my permission to continue. As you were...

Haha this is a brilliant thread, i spend alot of my time skateboarding when not watching football. ALot of people on here seem to have the same views as many other people that it is a kids thing to do. This is a very fickle view and completely wrong, what is so good about skateboarding is that it can span over a large age range from young kids to grown men, this creates a good friendly community which is different when doing other acitivities such as football which you are often just stuck in your age group.

It is not all about doing so called 'lame tricks' but about going out and having fun. So why look down on them?

If people wanna skate to get around, and it's not bothering other road users, then why not? Don't really see it as any different to cycling to get around.
