V off topic but, I had a delightful stroll down picturesque London Road at lunch time, and noticed a couple of fully grown 20 or 30 something men on skateboards intently skating on both pavement and road doing their silly jumps etc.

Being a 30 something man myself, I got bored with skateboarding at about the age of 13, realising that as a mode of transport they're about as useful as a lump of granite. Is it just me that thinks these blokes look like idiots and need to groq up?!

I wanted to open it up to let the good people of NSC to decide... Happy to be persuaded!

Made me laugh, my mental image is that they were quite shit at it too and stumbled off and had to grab the skateboard whilst trying not to fall over?

There comes a point in every mans life that you need to realise that you look silly trying to pull off that 'Radical dude surfer extreme thang' look.

Exactly. Think it works in Oz. But not quite the same on London Road. You just get mistaken for a tramp who can't afford a car.

Not a lot wrong with it IMO. No different to riding a BMX, snowboarding or anything else in that type of sport.

If their enjoying themselves and not harming others then why not? Also, if you are good with a skateboard It can be very easy and ideal to travel around on.

I totally agree, in the right context. A grown man riding a BMX down London Rd looks ridiculous too, a snowboard even more so!!
