I've had my first beer to limber up for this evening, and I've thought on this a little. Whilst I don't think we can ever increase the capacity further, what we do have in our favour is our footprint. It's not like we're flanked by rows of condensed terrace housing, or a Sainsbury's local. So, in about fifty years time, should we still be knocking about in the top echelons, we could knock it down for a bigger version.. maybe.

This is all rather easy for us to say, but I bet from Tony’s perspective a new stadium/major extensions is not really an item on the agenda for now. Maybe in the future with demand far outstripping supply and a huge global fanbase begging to see the Albion it will make practical sense, but even then its a huge investment to make. The £756m price of Everton’s new place comes to mind.

Surely if we continue to be successful, just audition STHs to see which 25k can sing the loudest and can afford to pay triple the existing ST price.

Anything can be improved, including infrastructure.

Bigger carpark, more frequent trains, expansion of Falmer station, improved P&R, monorail, etc.

It is getting to the point where the size of the Amex will hold us back if we truly aspire to remain competitive with the big 6 in the long term.

Expansion of the Amex is essential.

Nobody could have predicted that we would have ever outgrown a 32,000 stadium during planning... but we have. 60,000 is more appropriate for a club of our size now. I'm sure where there's a will, there's a way - even if it costs 9 figures and a huge engineering project to make it happen.

I like the idea of treating the grounds as single use and within a century Sussex is just littered with ever larger football grounds as the Albion has outgrown it and moved on, by this time playing in a 350,000 seater stadium with it's own airport somewhere near Crowborough

I think the fact you can still buy tickets for tonight's match (albeit not many) shows that the Amex is about right in size.

Also adding another 5k seats probably kill the exchange set up we currently have which seems to work pretty well at releasing extra tickets for occasional fans.

I have absolutely no doubt we would fill at least 90% of a 60,000 seater stadium for every Premier League fixture.

I don’t want to sound negative but realistic. It’s never occurred to me that the current success will continue indefinitely. The likelihood is that post De Zerbi, we'll revert to being a solid mid table club and could possibly even get relegated at some point in the next few years (before being promoted again of course). Ask Leicester fans in 2016, what lay ahead of them. They’d have predicted a long upward trajectory with possibly a European trophy or two. Certainly not relegation. Same with Southampton. And Leeds just a couple of years ago. What we don’t want is to be rattling about in a 40 or 50,000 stadium. I actually think the current size suits us fine. Until this season, season tickets didn’t sell out. Even now it’s easy to get tickets for the big games as long as you don’t leave it till the last minute. Let’s ask the question again in 5 years.

I dont doubt our potential but that's a bout 7% of the population of Sussex.

I don't doubt we could sell out 40k on the crest of a wave but generally where we are now is about right IMO

Rows could be added to the back of the NS, replacing the TV screen and offices. Without requiring alterations to the trusses.

The club show no interest in that though.

Given that there are still a handfull of tickets available for tonight's game it seems that the current capacity is about right.........maybe sufficient demand to justify perhaps 2500 greater capacity.

It’s a sell out.
