[Albion] Groß denied the opportunity of a hat-trick

A lot of little things went against us as well like Caicedo being made to go off after treatment from McTominay’s ‘challenge’, the flag that couldn’t go up quick enough when Welbeck went through despite it looking really close. All the sort of things that Kevin Friend does for Liverpool.

And their goal, Maguire is offside.

That would, 100%,have been a Man Utd penalty, although I can see why it wasn't given, although I think it should have been.

However, that Mctominay thuggish challenge on Caicedo is a red card, no questions IMO, horrible.

If I remember correctly, didn’t something happen similar in last season’s opener against Burnley

I was there and the ref was shocking, not only the two big decisions, also a plethora of free kicks in dangerous positions going in favour of United every time.

We were right in line with it. Nailed on pen 100%. Tierney had a big club bias shocker all round.

It's a fix.

But in spite of an abject officiating performance we come thought. UTA.

Welbz getting flagged in the first half when level set the precedent. What happened to letting it play through and then checking? Lino panicked when he saw Maguire in trouble.

Was this a greater achievement than the Amex victory? The following reasons are convincing:

1. We’d never won at Old Trafford.
2. We had to beat the ref as well as their team.
3. We had to beat the linesmen as well as their team.
4. We had to beat VAR as well as their team.
5. If the penalty had been given, we might have gone on to score several more, that turned the match in their favour but we still held out.
6. We had Biss & Cucu starting at the Amex.
7. We had a voracious home crowd behind us at the Amex.

In my view, today was better.

Surely they've changed the rules, seeing as neither the ref or three VAR officials deem smashing into a player with no attempt to play the ball a foul.

We should get Potter to instruct the players to spend the entire next game doing this and see what happens, lol.
