now does anyone know how I can get my well old school tapes onto my ipod?

To do mine I used an old tapedeck into my mixer with RCA connectors (the red and white ones) and then from mixer to PC with RCA to 3.5mm jack (see picture) into the mic socket. There's some free software called Audio Recorder for Free which works quite well.
I had to use the mixer to lower volume out of the tapedeck as the sound was distorting, but it should be possible to go straight from tapedeck to pc with one of these:

That happened to someone on one of those Airport reality programmes. The trace showed up on the swabs and they were suspicious because he had visited places like Columbia. They let him go in the end as they couldn't find anything. That was Sydney Airport too.

I know someone who got stopped and turned back at sydney airport after having his credit card swabbed!

Sorry, maybe f***ed up was a bit strong. It just seems the judical system is a little bit screwed to me when someone can get put in jail for four years for having a speck of weed on their shoe. I won't go into the poppy seed incident but that one was a little strange.
